Salary: EUR 124,571 - 149,485 / annual
Grafana Labs is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to lead the Frontend Platform and Navigation squads. You will be accountable for the performance, delivery, and customer outcomes of two distributed engineering teams, each focused on critical areas: Frontend Platform enables teams to build reliable, high-quality experiences across Grafana, while Navigation helps users find and organize resources and move confidently through the product.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing two distributed engineering squads: setting clear expectations, delegating effectively, coaching and developing team members, providing timely feedback, addressing performance gaps, and building a culture of trust and accountability
- Owning hiring and team planning, aligning team capacity and skills with product priorities and longer-term needs
- Leading discovery by engaging directly with customers, community members, and internal users to shape roadmaps and priorities
- Partnering with Product, Design, and engineering leaders to set priorities, resolve dependencies, and make trade-offs
- Owning delivery from discovery through rollout and measurement, setting milestones and surfacing risks early
- Using AI regularly in management work to synthesize research, inform roadmap and resourcing decisions, and streamline coordination
- Improving how squads plan, make decisions, and deliver by leading adoption of AI and automation
- Setting engineering direction for frontend foundations (developer experience, accessibility, architecture, tooling, reliability, multitenant capabilities) and navigation/search/resource organization
- Setting and upholding engineering standards for quality, security, and operability
- Participating in engineering management on-call rotation and driving improvements to reduce recurring disruption

Requirements:
- Significant experience managing senior engineers, building healthy teams, and developing technical leaders with ability to give clear feedback and address performance gaps directly and fairly
- Strong technical foundation in modern web or frontend systems, enabling evaluation of technical trade-offs and shaping architectural decisions with senior engineers
- Track record of turning ambiguous, cross-team problems into clear priorities and measurable results, managing delivery risks and operational demands
- Strong product and customer judgment, connecting engineering investments to user, developer, and business outcomes
- Clear, concise written communication and ability to work effectively in remote, globally distributed organization
- Appreciation for open-source development and judgment to balance Cloud-first delivery with needs of customers, community, and internal teams
- Practical experience using AI and automation in leadership work and leading teams to adopt them effectively
Bonus qualifications:
- Experience with React, TypeScript, or comparable large-scale frontend ecosystems
- Experience leading a developer platform team, including support for plugins or extensions
- Experience with navigation, search, information architecture, or resource-management products
- Experience delivering multitenant SaaS or major platform migrations
- Experience working on widely adopted open-source products
