Commure is building an AI Operating System for healthcare that spans the full care journey—from ambient AI and dictation at the point of care to intelligent agents automating workflows and autonomous revenue cycle management processing billions in claims. The company serves 500+ healthcare organizations, 500,000+ clinicians, and handles $25B+ in annual claims. Recently valued at $7B with a $70M raise, Commure has been named to Fortune's Future 50 and won the 2026 AI Breakthrough Award for "Overall NLP Company of the Year."
You will manage a team of 6–8 engineers (ranging from early-career to Senior Staff) responsible for the financial core of the revenue cycle product: the ledger recording every financial event, the reports that billing managers and CFOs use to close their books, and the analytics showing practice performance. You'll own the roadmap alongside your product partner and be accountable for financial correctness across the platform. The team is midway through a major rebuild: migrating a decade of report logic onto a drift-free ledger and modern OLAP layer while customers continue closing books on the legacy system.
Key responsibilities include: managing and growing the team through hiring, performance reviews, and career development; setting the product roadmap to evolve from custom report building to self-service customer reporting; owning financial correctness through shadow parity harnesses, cross-report tie-out checks, drift monitoring, and correctness SLOs; leading multi-quarter migrations incrementally with parity checks at each step; owning the customer relationship at the top of the stack, sitting with comptrollers and CFOs during month-end closes; and running cross-team execution with payments/posting, data infrastructure, and ops teams to prevent upstream changes from breaking downstream numbers.
You'll work in an environment where wrong numbers are a worse failure than slow performance, and where the gap between what you build and its impact on patient care is immediate. The team deploys daily and takes full ownership from early thinking to production.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 5+ years managing software engineers, including senior and staff-level individual contributors; demonstrated track record of growing engineers into leads and staff engineers
- Shipped financial, reporting, or data-intensive systems in production where numbers had to tie; understand how a report can be technically correct yet wrong to the reader
- Backend and data fluency: can review query plans, push back on ledger design, debug parity failures; staff engineers will take you seriously because you engage with substance
- Set direction for a product surface and articulate what it should look like in 12 months
- Comfortable explaining to a CFO why a number moved
- Operational discipline: on-call, SLOs, monitoring for correctness and availability
- Move fast on incomplete information and reset timelines honestly when work proves larger than expected
NICE TO HAVE:
- Healthcare RCM, billing, practice management, or clearinghouse background; or fintech experience with ledgers, close automation, reconciliation (BlackLine, FloQast, Numeric, Stripe, Modern Treasury)
- OLAP stores (StarRocks, ClickHouse, Druid) alongside PostgreSQL
- Double-entry accounting, append-only ledgers, or audit-trail requirements
- Led platform re-architecture while keeping existing system shipping
- Shipped LLM features to production; experience with AI report builders handling thousands of custom requests
