Freshworks is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to lead engineering teams building scalable, cloud-native core platform systems—including billing, monetization, metering, and high-throughput distributed services—that power the company's global SaaS suite.
In this role, you will own the technical strategy, operational excellence, and delivery roadmap while partnering closely with Product, Finance, and GTM leaders to align platform capabilities with business strategy. You will lead and mentor engineering managers and senior individual contributors, establishing a culture of technical rigor, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Key responsibilities include:
- Driving long-term technical vision and architecture for core platform services, ensuring systems are scalable, reliable, secure, and observable
- Leading, recruiting, and mentoring high-performing engineering teams and managers, fostering an autonomous, accountable, continuous-learning culture
- Partnering with Product Management, Finance, Pricing, and Customer Success to translate complex business and revenue workflows into scalable technology solutions
- Establishing robust engineering practices, operational standards, and SLAs/SLOs to ensure high availability, resilience, and performance across distributed cloud architectures
- Driving predictable, high-quality execution on platform roadmaps while balancing near-term business urgency with long-term architectural debt reduction
- Simplifying complex technical choices for executive stakeholders and influencing cross-team technology investments to establish shared best practices

REQUIREMENTS:
- 15+ years of overall software engineering experience, including 5+ years in an engineering management role leading multi-disciplinary teams or managers of managers
- Deep technical expertise in building and operating distributed systems, microservices, APIs, cloud-native architectures, and large-scale data platforms
- Proven experience building shared platform capabilities (e.g., billing, metering, subscriptions, monetization, or core SaaS infrastructure) consumed by multiple products
- Demonstrated ability to lead with vision and strategy: articulate clear team goals, align technological decisions with broader business metrics, and anticipate long-term platform requirements across multi-year horizon plans
- Strong investment in people: actively coach engineering managers and senior technical leads, build career pathways, and create environments where teams operate autonomously
- Track record of executing with excellence: consistently set ambitious goals, remove cross-functional friction, and drive operational discipline to deliver reliable, business-critical services
NICE TO HAVE:
- Prior domain experience in subscription management, billing architectures, monetization engines, or enterprise fintech platforms
- Experience managing engineering managers or leading engineering sub-functions within a high-growth SaaS environment
- Familiarity with multi-tenant cloud platforms (AWS/GCP), event-driven architectures, and modern observability stacks
