Salary: USD 295,250 - 345,040 / annual
Roblox is a platform where tens of millions of people explore, create, play, learn, and connect in 3D immersive digital experiences. As Senior Engineering Manager for Consumer Apps - Performance, you will lead a team focused on optimizing Roblox performance, responsiveness, and resilience across mobile, desktop, and console platforms.
You will lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing engineering team spanning junior to senior engineers. You'll foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and engineering excellence while delivering results. Your responsibilities include defining and executing product and technical strategy for performance improvements and regression defense across all supported platforms. You'll own the team's mission and outcomes, working with stakeholders to define the roadmap and ensure execution. You'll partner with Product Management, Data, and cross-functional stakeholders to identify optimization opportunities, analyze impact, create novel solutions, and establish processes to improve application performance. Your work directly influences company-level goals around monetization, engagement, and retention.
The role is based at Roblox headquarters in San Mateo, CA with no remote option. Office presence is required Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with optional presence on Monday and Friday.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 2+ years of experience as an engineering manager or tech lead manager
- 8+ years of experience building large client applications with deep technical expertise in at least one client platform (Android, iOS, Windows, or macOS)
- Demonstrated excellence in collaborating with others and developing software engineers, with proven outcomes of facilitating team success and leading by example
- Proven track record of technical delivery in high-scale environments with complex constraints
- Experience solving difficult problems involving both engineering and non-engineering stakeholders
- Proactive mindset with sense of urgency
- Product ownership mentality aligned with user needs
- Team-oriented approach to strengthening direct reports and peer collaborators
- Solution-oriented problem-solving across technical, business, and people challenges
