Bitwarden is the leading open-source password management solution, serving individuals, teams, and enterprise organizations globally. The Onboarding & Activation team owns the critical user journey from first run through conversion to paying customer—including guided setup, trial initiation, upgrade paywalls, plan selection, and subscription/payment/invoice experiences.
As a Senior Frontend Engineer on this team, you will build the customer-facing flows that users interact with from their first moments in the product through the decision to subscribe. These are high-stakes surfaces where UX correctness directly impacts both first impression and revenue. You'll partner closely with the Billing team (who own the pricing service and Stripe/PayPal integration) to ensure client-side payment and plan surfaces remain consistent with backend contracts.
Key responsibilities:
- Build and maintain guided setup, onboarding, trial-initiation, and upgrade-paywall flows that convert users to paying customers.
- Develop user-facing subscription, plan-selection, payment-method, and invoice experiences across web, browser, and desktop platforms.
- Integrate browser payment tokenization (Stripe Elements/SetupIntents for cards and US bank accounts; PayPal via Braintree drop-in) ensuring raw payment data never touches Bitwarden servers.
- Build clean, reusable, Storybook-documented Angular components and services within shared pricing and subscription libraries; consume typed client-side contracts with the server billing API.
- Work with TypeScript, RxJS observable data services, Angular Signals, reactive forms/validation, routing, and pricing/discount display logic.
- Contribute to application performance, reliability, accessibility, and maintainability, including Angular Signals adoption and strict-typing modernization.
- Partner with product, design, security, and Billing engineers.
- Participate in pull request review and identify technical debt and refactoring opportunities.
You'll work on a globally distributed, asynchronous team that values written clarity and bias to action. This role is part of building Bitwarden's India Engineering Center of Excellence from the ground up.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 6–10 years of front-end software engineering experience with the ability to own complex flows end-to-end with minimal guidance.
- Strong experience in a modern reactive component framework; Angular, TypeScript, and RxJS strongly preferred; strong experience in React, Vue, or similar frameworks acceptable.
- Proven ownership of correctness-critical, form- and validation-heavy transactional UI, handling edge cases and error states in flows where mistakes affect user trust or transactions.
- SaaS/payments/checkout or other money-handling UI experience; client-side payment-gateway integration experience (Stripe.js/Elements, PayPal via Braintree).
- Modern Angular, front-end testing, Storybook/design systems, accessibility experience, and comfort consuming typed back-end API contracts.
