Salary: USD 200,000 - 315,000 / annual
Verkada is seeking a Senior Embedded Engineer to build the next generation of its Command Connector product, which transforms legacy cameras into cloud-native, AI-searchable nodes. The role focuses on systems-level Linux engineering and embedded development.
The Command Connector manages dozens of concurrent video streams, translates disparate camera protocols into a unified pipeline, and runs computer vision models and inference at the edge. The product currently supports 100K+ customer cameras and is scaling rapidly.
Key responsibilities include:
- Reading and debugging kernel oops/panic traces
- Debugging GPU driver issues
- Working with boot and security subsystems (secure boot, LUKS disk encryption)
- Networking internals (routing, firewalling, link-layer troubleshooting)
- RAID array management (mdadm, disk failure/rebuild scenarios)
This is a full-time, in-office role (five days per week onsite in San Mateo). Verkada will sponsor employment visas for qualified candidates.
Requirements:
- BS/MS in Computer Science or similar degree
- 5+ years of software development experience for Linux in system programming languages (C, C++, Rust, Go, or similar)
- Experience in embedded development or low-level system software development
- Strong knowledge of operating systems and computer architecture
- Good communication and documentation skills
- Must be willing and able to work onsite five days per week
