Form Energy is a climate technology company developing long-duration iron-air battery systems for grid-scale energy storage. The company has secured contracts with major US utilities and is ramping production at its West Virginia manufacturing facility.
You will lead the design, development, and deployment of automated electronic manufacturing test systems, specifically Functional Circuit Test (FCT) and End-of-Line (EOL) testing for PCBA and system-level products. This is a hands-on role reporting to the System Electronics Development team, working closely with Electrical, Firmware, Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain teams.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design and troubleshoot automated electronic manufacturing test systems
- Lead FCT and EOL test development for PCBA and system-level products
- Define test strategies, coverage, acceptance criteria, and validation methodologies
- Provide Design-for-Test (DFT) feedback to improve manufacturability and test coverage
- Manage external vendors for test fixture development and equipment integration
- Execute Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT)
- Develop robust, scalable manufacturing test processes with high uptime
- Support NPI builds, failure analysis, and manufacturing ramp activities
- Drive continuous improvements in test architecture, automation, and diagnostics
- Travel up to 20% domestically and internationally for vendor integration and validation
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, or related technical field
- 5+ years of manufacturing test engineering experience in PCBA and Top-Level Assembly (TLA) environments
- Strong hands-on experience developing automated test systems using NI LabVIEW and NI TestStand (CLD/CLA certification preferred)
- Strong understanding of embedded and manufacturing communication protocols: CAN, CAN-FD, SPI, I2C, IsoSPI, Modbus RTU, Ethernet/IP, TCP/IP
- Deep understanding of automated test instrumentation: DAQs, power supplies, DMMs, oscilloscopes, electronic loads
- Experience developing test coverage strategies and fault detection methodologies
- Experience integrating manufacturing test systems with MES and production databases using SQL, JSON, XML, or Protobuf
- Familiarity with AOI, AXI (X-Ray), ICT, and Flying Probe inspection technologies (preferred)
- Python experience for automation, scripting, or data analysis (preferred)
- Familiarity with statistical analysis tools like Minitab or MSA methodologies (preferred)
