Anduril Industries is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join the Hardware Platform Organization, a central engineering group responsible for shared technologies, tools, and infrastructure powering hardware development across all Anduril divisions. The Hardware Platform team sets engineering standards, operates development manufacturing and test sites, and develops core technology products that ship across multiple product lines, including actuators, propulsion, batteries, avionics, and rocket motors.
In this role, you will own full-cycle PCB design for high-reliability defense hardware, from requirements capture and schematic design through component selection, layout, bring-up, test, debug, and system integration. You will architect and optimize circuit solutions for safety-critical aerospace and defense applications, including power electronics, motor/actuator drivers, digital control systems, fuzing circuitry, and vehicle interconnect systems.
Key responsibilities include:
- Driving rigorous design analysis across programs: worst-case analysis, thermal analysis, DFMEA, component derating, and signal/power integrity analysis to ensure reliability in extreme vibration and temperature environments
- Defining test strategies and leading Design Verification Testing (DVT), qualification testing, and functional testing from board bring-up through ground and flight test
- Developing system interconnect diagrams and defining wire harnesses with attention to integration complexity and scalability across vehicle variants
- Serving as a technical authority across mechanical, thermal, software, systems, quality, and manufacturing teams, driving alignment on cross-discipline tradeoffs
- Leading and facilitating peer-level and cross-discipline design reviews; providing substantive technical feedback that shapes design decisions
- Leading root cause and failure analysis in support of ground test and field operations, and driving corrective action across teams
- Defining vendor evaluation criteria and leading sourcing decisions for critical electrical components and subsystems
- Mentoring and technically guiding junior and mid-level engineers on design methodology, analysis rigor, and test approach
You will support two primary focus areas: Propulsion (developing and testing cutting-edge electronics for propulsion systems, including flight controllers, power electronics, high-efficiency motor controllers, and electromagnetic actuators) and ESAD (developing fuzing circuitry for missile systems, collaborating with vehicle development teams to design, document, and produce tailored fuzing systems and effectors).
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
- 8+ years of experience designing, testing, and troubleshooting complex PCB designs, with demonstrated depth in at least one domain relevant to defense or aerospace hardware
- Deep expertise in analog, digital, and power electronics, with a track record of delivering hardware in challenging environments
- Expert proficiency with electronic CAD tools (Altium Designer strongly preferred)
- Proficiency with circuit simulation tools (LTSpice or equivalent) and experience applying simulation to validate designs before hardware build
- Strong competence with lab test equipment and test automation; experience designing or directing structured DVT and qualification campaigns
- Deep familiarity with standard interfaces including CAN, I2C, SPI, Ethernet, USB, and PCIe, and experience with MCU, CPU, and FPGA-based architectures
- Demonstrated experience designing for signal integrity and power integrity in high-reliability environments
- Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Active DoD Secret or Top Secret clearance, or DOE L/Q
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering
- 8+ years of experience in defense, aerospace, UAS, missile, or maritime hardware development
- Experience with propulsion electronics: motor controllers, power distribution/conversion, flight controller circuits, or electromagnetic actuators
- Experience with fuzing, ordnance, or other safety-critical weapon systems electronics
- Familiarity with MIL-STD-1316, MIL-STD-882E, MIL-STD-2105, or DoD Weapons Safety Board processes
- Experience with MATLAB/Simulink for control loop modeling or system simulation
- Familiarity with avionics design standards: DO-254, DO-178C, DO-160
- Experience scaling electronics designs to production volume, including DFM/DFT considerations
- Track record of mentoring engineers and shaping technical practices at the team or program level
