ThayerMahan, a world leader in autonomous maritime surveillance and monitoring based in Groton, CT, is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join its Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) team. This role focuses on the design, integration, testing, and sustainment of electrical systems supporting maritime sensing platforms and acoustic intelligence payloads.
You will design, develop, and maintain electrical systems for maritime and subsea applications, including sensor integration, controllers, communications, and power systems. Responsibilities include creating and maintaining schematics, PCB layouts, wiring and harness designs, and technical documentation. You will review technical documentation, build guides, and wiring schematics to ensure quality and consistency.
Cross-functional collaboration is central to this role. You will work closely with engineering and production teams throughout the product lifecycle, communicate technical tradeoffs and risks to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, and occasionally support field deployments, customer demonstrations, and at-sea operations.
As a senior contributor, you will mentor junior engineers, share team knowledge, evaluate and recommend new technologies and design approaches, and work effectively with incompletely specified requirements to define appropriate technical solutions. You should be able to quickly understand unfamiliar systems with minimal guidance and balance short-term execution needs with long-term product goals.
The company offers a competitive salary, comprehensive benefits (medical, dental, vision, life insurance, 401K with employer match), and opportunities for career development in a growing organization.
