Serve Robotics is building autonomous sidewalk robots for urban delivery, currently operating fleets in Los Angeles, Miami, Dallas, Atlanta, and Chicago. The company is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to design, develop, and validate electrical systems for their robotic platforms. In this role, you will own electrical subsystem development across the full lifecycle—from concept and prototype through validation, production release, and field support. You'll design and develop electrical circuits, PCBs, harnesses, and subsystem architectures for autonomous robotic platforms. Key responsibilities include leading hardware bring-up and debugging activities in partnership with firmware and software teams, performing root cause analysis on complex electrical and system-level issues, and developing comprehensive test plans and validation procedures to ensure subsystem reliability. You'll collaborate extensively with mechanical, firmware, systems, test, manufacturing, and operations teams to support successful integration and product execution. You'll also partner with suppliers and manufacturing teams on component selection, design-for-manufacturability improvements, and production readiness. Additional responsibilities include supporting prototype builds, factory activities, engineering investigations, and field issue resolution. You'll contribute to technical documentation, design reviews, and engineering standards, and provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers. The role may require occasional travel to support prototype builds, manufacturing activities, supplier engagement, and engineering validation efforts. You'll operate with a high degree of technical ownership while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable electrical systems at scale. QUALIFICATIONS: - Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related engineering discipline, or equivalent practical experience - 8+ years of experience designing and testing electrical systems for robotics, consumer electronics, automotive, aerospace, or other electromechanical products - Strong experience with schematic design, PCB development, subsystem integration, and electrical system validation - Hands-on experience debugging and testing electrical subsystems using laboratory equipment (oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, electronic loads, function generators) - Experience with embedded systems development, hardware bring-up, debugging, and failure analysis - Experience using industry-standard ECAD tools, preferably Altium - Experience working with common hardware interfaces (CAN, SPI, UART, I2C, USB) - Strong problem-solving skills and ability to independently drive technical work through ambiguity - Experience collaborating with cross-functional engineering, manufacturing, and supplier teams DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: - Experience designing DC-DC power systems and power distribution architectures - Experience with high-speed circuit design and signal integrity analysis - Experience developing test automation tools using Python, Bash, or similar scripting languages - Experience with EMC/EMI compliance testing and regulatory validation - Familiarity with Nvidia Jetson platforms and embedded compute systems - Experience with sensors, cameras, LiDAR, motors, battery systems, thermal systems, or cellular networking technologies - Experience with cable harness design and manufacturing support - Experience supporting production ramp activities and overseas manufacturing partners - Background in robotics, automotive, aerospace, medical device, or other complex electromechanical industries
