Machina Labs is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to serve as both individual contributor and technical lead for the electrical systems behind their robotic manufacturing platforms. You will own electrical design across production cells and future platforms, including schematics, interconnect diagrams, panel layouts, and harness drawings released and revision-controlled in PDM. You will set the electrical architecture and documentation approach reusable across platforms, define and govern interfaces between robot controllers, PLC panels, end effectors, and instrumentation under change control, and make architecture, protection, and interface calls affecting cost, schedule, and production readiness. You will perform, document, and establish practices for power distribution, grounding and bonding, and signal integrity analysis for 480VAC and 24VDC systems, drives, sensors, and I/O. You will partner with controls and software teams on I/O, safety logic, and industrial network architecture, and lead investigation of complex and intermittent electrical problems across power, controls, and integration to deliver root causes. On the supplier and production side, you will own technical relationships with outsourced panel and harness suppliers: release packages, approve deviations, drive quality issues to root cause, and prepare the supply base for production volume. You will correct how panels and harnesses are built in-house and set build and inspection standards for both in-house and supplier builds. You will design and review PLC and control panels for manufacturability and serviceability, and resolve electrical problems that cross disciplines, suppliers, and field installations. You will design and review custom PCBAs and instrumentation, setting the review, bring-up, and production release practice for board-level work. You will own the compliance approach for machines against UL/IEC and machine safety requirements, leading hardware through certification. You will lead technical engagement with certification bodies and customers on electrical matters, and anticipate systemic electrical and safety risk across programs, establishing design review practices to stop issues before they reach the floor. You will mentor junior engineers on electrical design practices and standards, and guide the team on complex technical decisions. Additional responsibilities include servo drive commissioning and tuning, motion control system integration, facility electrical integration for machine installs, test fixture and data acquisition design, PCBA layout, industrial connector and cable selection, and KUKA or similar industrial robot controller integration. REQUIREMENTS: The ideal candidate has led the electrical design of industrial machinery, robotics, CNC, or automation equipment across more than one machine or program, has taken machinery through compliance certification, and remains hands-on while growing the team. Required skills include power distribution and grounding analysis, PLC and control panel design, PCBA design and layout (Altium, KiCad, or similar), industrial connector and cable selection (Harting, M12/M23 cordsets, IPC), servo drive commissioning and tuning, motion control system integration, facility electrical integration, UL/IEC and machine safety compliance, and technical leadership of electrical teams.
