Berkshire Grey is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join its product development team delivering robotic automation solutions. You will own the complete lifecycle of electrical design—from ideation through production support and troubleshooting. This role combines hands-on engineering with strategic problem-solving: you'll conceive, design, prototype, and test new automation systems, then launch them into production and support deployed customer installations. You will work alongside top engineering talent on real customer problems, turning unclear requirements into practical, production-ready solutions. The role demands both deep technical expertise and the ability to collaborate across mechanical, software, and manufacturing teams to deliver integrated automation systems. Key responsibilities include: - PCB design, development, and deployment (Altium preferred) - Electrical system and component design: DC, analog, single-phase and three-phase circuits, industrial 220–480V hardware and standards - Motor selection and control: BLDC, servo, stepper, and induction motors (50W–3kW range) - Sensor integration: retroreflective, inductive proximity, Reed switches, load cells - Equipment expertise: conveyor systems, robot arms, photo-eyes, proximity sensors, VFD drives, barcode scanners, safety controllers - Functional safety design and Safety Performance Level compliance - CAD work in AutoCAD/AutoCAD Electrical and SolidWorks - Root cause analysis, troubleshooting, and service bulletin management - Hands-on testing and validation of electrical, mechanical, and control systems Qualifications: - BS or MS in Electrical Engineering or related field (Mechatronics, Computer, Mechanical, Robotics Engineering, Physics) - 5+ years of related work experience in material handling, process automation, piece-part automation, or semiconductor industries - Proven track record successfully designing and bringing automation systems into production - Willingness to engage across the entire electrical design lifecycle from concept to field support - Desired expertise: PCB design (Altium), industrial electrical systems (220–480V), motor architectures, functional safety, CAD tools (AutoCAD Electrical, SolidWorks), sensor selection and integration, root cause analysis
