Salary: USD 183,249 - 230,000 / annual

The Senior Director of Engineering is a key member of the Technology Leadership Team, reporting to the Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer. This role is responsible for managing and coordinating resources, processes, and solutions to deliver high-quality product releases while defining the vision, strategy, and direction for the engineering organization to achieve company goals. Key Responsibilities: - Work with Engineering Managers and Technical Leads to plan and execute delivery, ensuring teams have appropriate product, design specifications, direction, and tools. - Establish realistic timelines and keep teams focused on meeting deadlines. - Develop and maintain strong relationships with product leaders and stakeholders; partner on ideation and execution of new products and integrations. - Build and grow a team of expert engineers to deliver best-in-class products. - Participate in architecture and solution design; mentor engineers and explore frameworks, toolsets, and processes to improve team productivity. - Own engineering capabilities, architectural decisions, and system performance at scale. - Manage multiple concurrent initiatives and negotiate stakeholder dependencies. Requirements: - Master's Degree in Computer Science or related field, or acceptable combination of education and experience. - At least 14 years managing, mentoring, and building highly performing software engineering teams focused on quality delivery. - At least 20 years of experience in design, development, and/or release cycle delivering software to market. - Experience leading a team of at least 25 people. - Experience managing an FTE and contractor combined budget of $5,000,000 or more. - Work experience developing enterprise-grade platforms and interfacing with large, complex applications. - At least 10 years of strong architecture and engineering experience with the Microsoft stack, Object Oriented Programming, and Database Technologies. - Design and engineering skills in building and maintaining enterprise API and Web Services, supporting internal and external integrations. - Solid understanding of engineering for Performance, Security, and Quality. - Strong experience with creating and deploying applications in Cloud environments; strong AWS experience preferred. - Ability to assess and bring in new technology to solve business problems at scale, with experience in modern architectures and open source. - Experience building services or applications where performance is critical; expertise in performance tuning, reliability, redundancy, and fault-tolerant architectures. - Experience in containerization, modern build practices, and DevOps mindset preferred. - Strong communication and presentation skills with ability to influence and align stakeholders. - Expert at spotting talent and passionate about growing world-class engineering teams. - Knowledge of software development cycle in Agile environments. - Content Management and Learning Management System exposure highly desirable. - Respectful and outstanding leadership skills providing vision and motivation. - Self-starter with strong organizational, people, and time management skills; able to manage multiple priorities with demanding timeframes. - Ability to work collaboratively and create high-quality, results-driven, team-oriented environment. - Willingness and ability to work flexible hours.
