D-Wave Quantum Inc. The company serves over 100 organizations across commercial, government, and research sectors.
You will join the DevOps team as a Senior DevOps Engineer, reporting to the DevOps Engineering Manager. This hybrid role is based in New Haven, CT, requiring at least three days per week on-site.
You will operate and improve hybrid infrastructure spanning AWS, on-premises environments, Kubernetes platforms, and software delivery pipelines. Your responsibilities will emphasize one or more of: platform operations and software delivery, security and infrastructure hardening, or monitoring and observability.
Key responsibilities include:
- Own day-to-day support for AWS applications and shared infrastructure, resolving deployment, configuration, and runtime issues
- Maintain and improve CI/CD pipelines and software release processes using GitHub Actions
- Support repository onboarding, access requests, and infrastructure work, improving consistency through automation
- Develop and maintain infrastructure-as-code using Terraform, Ansible, Python, and Bash
- Strengthen security across AWS, Kubernetes, and on-premises environments through access controls, secrets management, hardening, and patching
- Integrate security scanning into engineering workflows and coordinate remediation of findings
- Support compliance evidence collection and Vanta workflows
- Improve monitoring, logging, dashboards, and alerting using Zabbix, Prometheus, OpenSearch, CloudWatch, and Grafana
- Partner with application owners to improve instrumentation and production readiness
- Lead complex troubleshooting and incident resolution, driving root-cause analysis
- Collaborate across teams, mentor teammates, and contribute to technical design and code reviews
You will combine hands-on support with engineering improvements that make systems more reliable, secure, and easier to maintain, supporting D-Wave's quantum computing services and hardware-integrated systems.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
- 5+ years of experience in DevOps, infrastructure, systems engineering, site reliability engineering, or related field
- Demonstrated ability to independently own production systems or technical initiatives, balancing day-to-day support with longer-term engineering improvements
- Substantial hands-on experience in one or more of: platform operations and software delivery, security and infrastructure hardening, or monitoring and observability
- Strong Linux administration and troubleshooting skills across applications and infrastructure
- Hands-on experience supporting and operating AWS infrastructure
- Practical experience deploying and troubleshooting Docker and Kubernetes workloads
- Experience maintaining CI/CD pipelines and supporting software deployments
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code using Terraform or equivalent tools
- Proficiency in Python, Bash, or similar languages for automation and troubleshooting
- Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (DNS, routing, firewalls, TLS)
- Working knowledge of infrastructure security practices and monitoring/logging tools
- Ability to prioritize competing needs, communicate technical trade-offs, and contribute to mentoring and technical reviews
