Salary: EUR 60,000 - 65,000 / annual
Mercanis is building an Agentic AI Procurement Suite—a digital, transparent, and intelligent platform for modern procurement. The company operates a small, collaborative engineering organization where Platform & Infrastructure is critical to maintaining reliable, secure, and scalable systems that support AI-driven product capabilities.
As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you will own and evolve the infrastructure behind Mercanis's SaaS and agentic platform, which runs on both AWS and Google Cloud (GCP). This is a hands-on role with strong ownership and direct impact on platform scaling.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design, deploy, and maintain infrastructure across AWS and GCP in production environments
- Manage Kubernetes clusters (ideally GKE) and Helm deployments
- Implement and maintain infrastructure-as-code using Terraform or OpenTofu
- Build and optimize CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI
- Ensure security best practices across multi-cloud environments and access management
- Troubleshoot complex production issues and operate reliable systems
- Collaborate closely with product engineering teams in a remote-first, asynchronous environment
- Improve engineering productivity through pragmatic use of AI tools for automation, documentation, and decision-making
- Contribute to observability, developer experience, and platform foundations
The role offers strong ownership of platform and infrastructure topics across two cloud platforms, a small collaborative team with low bureaucracy, and the opportunity to shape CI/CD, observability, cloud infrastructure, security, and developer experience for AI-driven products.
Workplace: Flexible remote setup based in Spain, with the option to collaborate at the Berlin office.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 5+ years of experience in DevOps, SRE, Platform Engineering, or similar role
- Strong hands-on experience with both AWS and GCP in production environments
- Production experience with Kubernetes (ideally GKE) and Helm
- Solid experience with Terraform or OpenTofu, GitLab CI, and infrastructure-as-code practices
- Good scripting skills in Python, Bash, or similar languages
- Experience operating production systems and troubleshooting complex issues
- Security-minded approach to cloud infrastructure and access management across multiple cloud providers
- Strong communication skills in a remote-first, asynchronous environment
- Proactive use of AI tools to improve engineering productivity, automation, documentation, troubleshooting, and decision-making
- Plus: Experience with additional cloud providers such as Alibaba Cloud or STACKIT
