Faro Health is a Series A clinical development software company that helps life sciences organizations orchestrate complex clinical trials through a unified platform. As Senior DevOps Engineer, you will be a core member of the development team responsible for managing infrastructure complexity and ensuring system stability through advanced CI/CD automation. You will design and build infrastructure-as-code solutions across Azure and AWS, implementing Zero-Trust security patterns, container orchestration, and distributed microservice scaling for cloud-native SaaS applications.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design, implement, and maintain highly scalable deployments, infrastructure, and reliability systems; continuously iterate and optimize for improvement
- Manage always-available infrastructure, deployment pipelines, and platform tooling to eliminate downtime and improve service manageability
- Collaborate with Software Engineering teams to architect infrastructure and automated deployments for cloud-native applications
- Research and integrate new technologies to enhance platform functionality and performance
- Partner with peers on product development to define roadmap execution and address critical technical challenges
- Build and maintain CI/CD automation that enables rapid, safe deployments at scale
This is a hybrid role based in San Diego, California. The position is open to current California residents only.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in software engineering and DevOps, with significant CI/CD expertise
- Demonstrable expertise managing complex infrastructure for high-scale, cloud-based systems
- Extensive experience with cloud service providers (AWS, Azure, and/or Google Cloud); mastery of at least one is essential
- Hands-on infrastructure-as-code experience with Terraform
- Deep knowledge and hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, HELM, and Istio
- Solid expertise in CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, Ansible, Jenkins, BitBucket Pipelines, Azure DevOps, and serverless architectures
- Experience with streaming technologies (Kafka, Event Hubs, RabbitMQ)
- Experience developing and supporting server-side rendered applications using Node.js and Python
- Proficiency in scripting languages: Python, Bash, and PowerShell
- Expert-level knowledge of monitoring, logging, and observability tools; understanding of system reliability, troubleshooting, and incident response
- Familiarity with generative AI (LLMs) and prompt engineering for DevOps automation (config generation, runbooks)
- Excellent problem-solving skills; ability to blend traditional DevOps with next-gen AI capabilities
- Self-motivated; able to work effectively with minimal supervision
- Willingness to rapidly learn new technologies and embrace diverse assignments
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline, or equivalent practical training and experience
- Data presentation and analytics experience is a plus
