GetYourGuide is seeking a Senior Design Systems Manager to lead the evolution of design systems and processes across the organization. This is a strategic leadership role within the UX organization, responsible for shaping how the company approaches product development through systems thinking.
In this role, you will:
- Lead and govern the design language team, ensuring consistency, efficiency, and scalability across all products and functions
- Shape the future of design systems by integrating automation, AI-assisted tooling, and code-driven design practices
- Bridge design, engineering, and product strategy to create new ways of working that eliminate unnecessary process stages
- Partner closely with cross-functional teams including Product Design, Content Design, Product Management, Engineering, Research, and Data teams
- Guide teams in adopting system thinking while nurturing a culture that prioritizes scalable solutions over isolated approaches
- Work across all stages of product development—from requirements gathering through implementation support
- Anticipate and embed emerging trends like generative UI, adaptive theming, and real-time personalization into the system roadmap
- Advance the discipline of high-quality product design within the organization
- Sequence complex projects into manageable steps that drive progress across teams
- Ensure design decisions are grounded in solving real user problems while aligning with business objectives
GetYourGuide connects millions of travelers with unforgettable experiences worldwide. The company operates from Berlin HQ with offices globally, including New York and Bangkok. The role offers a hybrid working arrangement with three days in-office collaboration (Mon, Tue, Thu) and two days of optional remote focus time, plus the ability to work from anywhere for 30 days annually.
Requirements:
- 10+ years of experience in product design leadership with strong systems thinking
- Proven track record of designing and shipping design patterns that scaled to millions of users with successful outcomes for global audiences and business
- Strong vision thinking with demonstrated projects that shaped organizational thinking
- Deep knowledge of AI trends and capabilities in design systems; considered an AI super user
- Experience creating efficiencies across various team engagement models (centralized, embedded, distributed)
- Strong understanding of frontend interactions and backend logic; seamless collaboration with engineers
- Ability to navigate ambiguity and drive clarity connecting user, technology, and business needs
- Exceptional collaboration skills and proven processes for bringing tech functions together
- Extraordinary thoughtfulness in interaction design and prototyping
- Experience collaborating with machine learning and data science teams
- Outstanding portfolio demonstrating leadership impact on company design thinking and benefits of consistency/scale
- Proven leadership in pivoting to shifting business needs
- Strong thought leadership and influence within larger teams
- Effective English verbal and written communication with strong presentation skills
- Ability to think technically and collaborate with engineering managers and data science leaders
- Strong time management for balancing schedules with fast-paced deadlines
