We are seeking a Senior Database Administrator to operate and scale SEON's database platforms as the company's products and data continue to grow. You will work across multiple database technologies including PostgreSQL on AWS RDS, ClickHouse, and YugabyteDB, supporting diverse workloads and use cases. In this role, you will be responsible for keeping database platforms reliable, scalable, observable, secure, and cost-efficient while partnering closely with engineering teams on performance, architecture, and operational excellence. Key responsibilities include: - Operating, maintaining, and scaling database platforms handling terabytes of data - Designing scalable, reliable database architectures for different workloads and availability requirements - Supporting and optimizing PostgreSQL on AWS RDS, ClickHouse, and YugabyteDB - Troubleshooting database issues and query performance bottlenecks across large datasets - Improving schema design, data structures, migrations, and change management processes - Partnering with development teams during design and delivery to ensure robust, scalable solutions - Assessing and communicating technical risks and tradeoffs in database and platform decisions - Contributing to monitoring, observability, security, backup, and recovery practices - Participating in a 24/7 on-call rotation - Supporting and guiding team members in using database resources effectively Requirements: - Strong experience designing and administering large-scale databases handling terabytes of data, with particular strength in PostgreSQL; experience with Oracle, Aurora, or DB2 also valued - Experience managing databases in at least one major cloud environment (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) - Strong knowledge of database design, configuration, maintenance, performance tuning, and troubleshooting - Experience working with multiple database engines and understanding their operational tradeoffs - Familiarity with database development processes, operational best practices, and reliability principles - Basic knowledge of Terraform-managed databases or infrastructure as code - Strong English communication skills Nice-to-have skills: - Experience with Apache Kafka - Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes - Experience with Grafana or similar observability tooling - Scripting or coding skills in Bash or Python
