Toters is an on-demand e-commerce and delivery platform operating across the Middle East, enabling customers to get anything in their city with high convenience. The company is a high-growth startup where technology drives product innovation and operational efficiency. As Senior Data Scientist focused on Experimentation and Advanced Analytics, you will serve as the strategic authority on measuring success and understanding complex marketplace dynamics. Rather than building real-time production algorithms, your mandate is to answer difficult strategic questions across the network. You will design sophisticated experiments, apply causal inference techniques, and build advanced statistical models to uncover the "why" behind user behavior, acting as a high-level strategic partner to Product, Operations, and Marketing leadership. Key Responsibilities: - Design, execute, and analyze complex experiments across a hyper-local, networked marketplace, leading methodology for non-standard testing where traditional A/B tests fail (spatial switchback testing for driver dispatch, cluster randomization, geo-experiments). - Apply econometric methods (Difference-in-Differences, Synthetic Controls, Propensity Score Matching, Regression Discontinuity) to measure true incremental impact of product launches, pricing changes, or marketing campaigns when randomized control trials are impossible. - Conduct rigorous deep-dives into massive datasets to uncover growth opportunities, optimize courier incentive structures, understand consumer price elasticity, and model marketplace network effects. - Build offline predictive models (Customer Lifetime Value, churn probability, user segmentation) to inform business strategy, targeted campaigns, and financial planning. - Work closely with executive leadership to define "North Star" metrics, identify leading indicators of health, and establish guardrail metrics to protect user experience. - Translate complex statistical findings into clear, compelling narratives for non-technical stakeholders and company leadership. Requirements: - 4+ years of experience in Data Science, Advanced Analytics, or Econometrics, with heavy emphasis on experimentation and product strategy, ideally within a multi-sided marketplace, delivery, or mobility tech company. - Deep expertise in applied statistics, probability, and experimental design; intimate understanding of p-hacking, novelty effects, cannibalization, and marketplace interference (spillover effects). - Expert-level SQL skills; fluent in Python or R for statistical modeling and data analysis. - Highly business-oriented with deep care for driving measurable business value and user impact. - Demonstrated ability to distill complex statistical concepts into clear, actionable frameworks for Product Managers and Business Operators. - Master's degree or PhD in Statistics, Economics/Econometrics, Biostatistics, Operations Research, Applied Mathematics, or related quantitative field. Nice to Have: - Experience scaling or building internal experimentation platforms and A/B testing tools (e.g., Statsig). - Familiarity with spatial data analysis and geospatial tools (H3, Geopandas). - Prior experience analyzing logistics, supply chain, or pricing and incentive structures.
