As a Senior Data Scientist, you will work on challenging data problems alongside industry leaders in cross-functional teams that include data engineers, solution architects, and project managers. Your focus will be on configuring, deploying, and operationalizing digital solutions using Cognite's core capabilities.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead the design and development of scalable solutions for customer use cases in Oil & Gas, Manufacturing, and Power & Utilities, taking ownership of design and execution
- Conduct intensive use case generation workshops with subject matter experts to understand problems and map them to data
- Perform data cleansing and exploratory data analysis
- Design and lead implementation of physical and machine learning models in Python, deploying to the model hosting environment
- Apply GenAI techniques to enhance data-driven decision-making in customer use cases
- Develop web applications built on Cognite Data Fusion with AI agent assistance
- Utilize and contribute to solution templates and best practices within the Data Science team
- Collaborate with data engineers, project managers, and solution architects on project deliveries
- Support customers and partners in conducting data science tasks with Cognite products
Requirements:
- Bachelor or Master of Science in a quantitative field or mechanical, systems, electrical, or industrial engineering
- 6+ years of full-time work experience as a data scientist (preferably within related industry)
- Proficient experience with Python and SQL; production-setting Python experience is a plus
- Experience with machine learning methods and techniques, statistics, and/or optimization
- Experience with Git
- Customer-facing experience with external clients
- Experience with managed cloud services (GCP, Azure, or AWS) is a plus
- Ability to work in cross-functional teams
- Ability to deliver independently, coach, and mentor others internally
- Comfort with challenges and setting ambitious goals that drive innovation
Preferred Experience:
- Domain knowledge or understanding of the Oil & Gas industry, particularly Asset Performance Management and production optimization
