Salary: USD 166,000 - 214,000 / annual

Justworks is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to join the ML group within the Data & Analytics team. You will partner with Product and Engineering to identify and frame domain-specific use-cases as data science problems, prototype and evaluate technical solutions, and work with Machine Learning Engineers to deploy and maintain models in production. Key responsibilities include: - Lead end-to-end machine learning and data science projects across domains such as Risk & Insurance and Payments - Partner with product and engineering leaders to identify and scope new data science use-cases - Utilize SQL to query structured and unstructured datasets - Prototype, evaluate, and deploy technical solutions including classical ML, statistical techniques, algorithms, deep learning, and LLMs - Develop and apply AI-assisted approaches to analysis, model exploration, and deployment - Implement and curate strategic assets such as data assets, generalized code, tooling, and reusable frameworks - Support technical and code reviews on the team - Build model monitors and systematic methods for obtaining consumer feedback post-deployment - Collaborate with the MLE team to inform model deployment infrastructure and MLOps tooling roadmap You will work in a data-driven, entrepreneurial environment focused on solving HR and business operations challenges. The role emphasizes good judgment, teamwork, communication, influence, and leadership—helping product partners develop a data-informed mindset, not just answering questions. Qualifications: - 7+ years of experience as a data scientist or machine learning practitioner with a track record of driving business impact through statistical analysis, machine learning, and productionizing models - Strong expertise in predictive modeling, numerical algorithms, and statistical methods - Strong communication and data storytelling skills; ability to translate complex findings into clear narratives that influence strategy and decisions - Strong business acumen and ability to connect analysis to product strategy, roadmap tradeoffs, and business outcomes - Fluent in SQL - Proficient in Python for both model research/development and writing production-grade code for deployment - Familiarity with cloud-based data stack (e.g., Snowflake, dbt) - Demonstrated curiosity about AI tools and emerging technologies, with a track record of applying them to accelerate analysis, improve rigor, or expand the reach of data science work - Prior experience in a high-growth startup or SaaS company is preferred
