Fal is a generative media infrastructure platform powering the next generation of AI products. The company provides developers and enterprises with unified infrastructure, tools, and model access to move from idea to production at scale. Fal's customer base is growing rapidly from startups on self-serve plans to global enterprises on custom agreements. You will serve as the legal partner to the go-to-market team, owning the commercial legal function and keeping deals moving while managing risk effectively. Key responsibilities: - Draft and negotiate customer agreements across the portfolio: enterprise MSAs, order forms, API agreements, serverless contracts, and renewals/expansions - Own the legal relationship with sales, account management, and deal desk teams; be the first point of contact to help close deals - Negotiate AI-specific contract terms including IP and output ownership, data use and retention, model-provider flow-downs, and acceptable use/content policies - Handle Data Processing Agreements (DPAs), security, and privacy questions in customer deals, working closely with privacy and security partners - Support model partner and marketplace terms as the catalog grows - Contribute to infrastructure and vendor agreements alongside the AI Infrastructure counsel as needed - Improve contract templates, playbooks, and approval matrices; partner with Legal Ops on contract tooling and intake processes to accelerate standard deal cycles You'll sit at the center of revenue at one of the fastest-growing companies in generative AI, with real ownership, direct access to leadership, and meaningful equity. The role offers room to grow as the legal team scales. REQUIREMENTS: - 5+ years of commercial legal experience, including meaningful in-house time at a SaaS, cloud, API, or AI company - Track record of negotiating high volumes of enterprise customer contracts, from standard agreements to complex strategic deals - Working knowledge of usage-based and consumption pricing models, SLAs, and data protection (GDPR, CCPA, DPAs) - Business-partner mindset: comfortable owning decisions, not just listing options; communicates in plain language - Ability to thrive in a fast, lightly structured environment where priorities shift weekly - Active bar membership in good standing (California preferred or able to register as in-house counsel) NICE TO HAVE: - Experience with AI or ML licensing, model partnerships, or content and media licensing - Exposure to cloud, compute, or infrastructure agreements - Experience rolling out or improving contract tooling and playbooks, including using AI to speed up review
