ARX Robotics, a dual-use technology company specializing in autonomous unmanned systems and sensors for the European defence sector, is seeking a Senior Legal and Commercial Counsel to support UK business and operations. This is a hands-on role working closely with teams across the company to provide pragmatic legal advice, enable commercial activity, and embed effective compliance practices in a fast-moving, highly regulated defence technology environment. You will own and support a broad range of UK-facing legal and commercial matters, including customer and supplier agreements, tenders, partnerships, and day-to-day business questions. You will identify and manage regulatory and compliance risks relevant to defence operations, including export controls and sanctions. Where specialist advice or formal approvals are required, you will coordinate with internal stakeholders and external advisers. Key responsibilities include: - Building a practical legal and commercial foundation for ARX's UK activities with clear guidance enabling responsible team progress - Establishing strong, consistent contract practices across the commercial lifecycle (drafting, review, negotiation, approval, execution, and ongoing support) - Providing effective legal support for customer and supplier contracts, tenders, procurement, partnerships, NDAs, and statements of work - Delivering clear, risk-based advice on commercial terms, liability, warranties, IP, confidentiality, data protection, disputes, and other legal issues - Developing a robust approach to identifying, assessing, and escalating compliance risks including UK export controls, sanctions, anti-bribery and corruption, and competition considerations - Creating practical compliance guidance and awareness initiatives to help colleagues understand requirements - Coordinating with internal stakeholders and external legal or compliance advisers - Managing corporate housekeeping and governance matters for UK operations - Building trusted working relationships across commercial, finance, operations, engineering, and leadership teams The company offers a competitive compensation package including bonus opportunity, 27 days annual leave (increasing to 30 with tenure), enhanced pension scheme, private medical and dental insurance, learning and development support, hybrid working setup, structured salary bands with levelling framework, referral bonus program, dog-friendly office, and relocation support where applicable. REQUIREMENTS: - Minimum 5 years post-legal qualification experience with right to practise in a relevant UK jurisdiction - Significant post-qualification experience in commercial legal work, ideally in-house or at a commercial law firm supporting technology, industrial, defence, aerospace, or other regulated businesses - Strong experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex commercial agreements and supporting transactions through execution - Ability to provide concise, practical advice explaining material risks and options to non-lawyers - Experience advising on compliance matters with working knowledge of relevant UK requirements - Exposure to export controls and sanctions strongly preferred; experience with defence or dual-use products is an advantage - Familiarity with UK data protection requirements - Sound judgement handling sensitive information with high standards of integrity, confidentiality, and accountability - Collaborative, hands-on approach with confidence to work independently while knowing when to escalate or involve specialist advisers - Excellent written and spoken English; additional language skills a plus - Ability to work effectively in a growing, international environment where priorities evolve and legal guidance must be both rigorous and commercially grounded
