Metropolis Technologies is pioneering the Recognition Economy through AI-powered smart spaces, computer vision edge platforms, and enterprise security systems. They are seeking a Senior Core Engineer to design and scale the infrastructure powering thousands of deployments globally.
In this role, you will:
- Design, develop, and scale high-performance microservices and edge platform services, primarily in Go
- Own critical systems spanning edge hardware (Nvidia Jetson/Orin fleets, custom Linux/Yocto builds) through cloud services (AWS, Kubernetes)
- Leverage AI development tools and agentic workflows to accelerate debugging, system analysis, and software quality
- Drive deep system reliability, memory/performance optimizations, and observability pipelines (metrics, structured logging, real-time alerts)
- Lead architectural design reviews, collaborate with teams across the US and internationally on unified migrations, and mentor fellow engineers
You will work in an AI-first engineering culture, bridging edge hardware and cloud environments to deliver real-world impact across parking, mobility, and real estate ecosystems.
Requirements:
- B.Sc. in Computer Science or related field
- 6+ years of experience building complex, high-scale backend or distributed systems
- Primary backend production experience in Go, C++, Java, or similar languages
- Proven ability to reason about complex system behavior, design modular interfaces, and build for long-term scalability
- Hands-on experience diagnosing deep stability issues, memory/latency bottlenecks, and building telemetry (Prometheus, Fluent Bit, or similar)
- Solid experience with Docker, Kubernetes, microservices, gRPC, and messaging technologies (Kafka, MQTT)
- Demonstrated ability to jump into unfamiliar codebases and deliver production-ready solutions quickly
- Experience leveraging modern AI tools (Cursor, Claude, Copilot) and agentic workflows
Plus (not required):
- Experience with Nvidia Jetson or Intel edge devices, Linux internals, Yocto, or IoT environments
- Exposure to real-time video processing pipelines, RTSP/SRTP streams, or GStreamer
- Familiarity with AI applications, RAG pipelines, vector databases (USearch, Faiss), or agent protocols (MCP, A2A)
