Crusoe is a vertically integrated AI infrastructure company building the future of energy-efficient AI compute. As a Senior Commissioning Engineer, Mechanical, you will lead commissioning execution for assigned systems and scopes within Crusoe's data center projects. This role bridges hands-on technical execution with emerging project leadership, designed for an engineer ready to take on broader responsibility and move toward full project ownership.
You will independently oversee and execute commissioning test procedures across assigned systems, including pre-functional checklists, functional performance tests, and integrated systems tests. You'll review and provide input on commissioning test scripts, MOPs (Methods of Procedure), punch lists, and turnover documentation. As a field-level technical resource, you'll troubleshoot and resolve commissioning deficiencies across mechanical and controls disciplines, coordinating with trade contractors and subcontractors to schedule and sequence commissioning activities on-site.
Key responsibilities include verifying installation conditions against approved drawings, submittals, and specifications to confirm readiness for testing; tracking and driving closure of open deficiencies with accurate documentation; supporting integrated systems testing and reliability demonstrations for critical MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) and BMS/EPMS (Building Management System/Energy Performance Management System) infrastructure; and participating in factory witness testing and startup validation activities. You'll maintain complete and accurate commissioning records, field reports, and turnover packages, mentor junior CxE (Commissioning Engineer) team members, and ensure adherence to Crusoe commissioning requirements while collecting feedback to improve the program. You'll communicate progress, risks, and technical issues clearly to management and adhere to site safety protocols and compliance requirements throughout all commissioning phases.
This role requires 75% travel to project sites.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 4+ years of experience in data center commissioning, building systems, or critical infrastructure construction
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; equivalent field experience considered (CxA certification a plus)
- Solid understanding of data center systems including cooling infrastructure and BMS systems
- Working knowledge of commissioning levels L1 through L5 and associated documentation and testing requirements
- Ability to independently execute and troubleshoot functional and integrated system tests
- Proficient in reading and interpreting construction drawings, single-line diagrams, submittals, and equipment specifications
- Strong documentation habits with ability to manage multiple open items accurately in fast-paced field environment
- Effective communicator with ability to coordinate across trades, contractors, and internal project teams
- Willingness to travel to project sites as required (75% travel)
