Collective is a fintech platform empowering self-employed professionals with integrated business services including incorporation, accounting, bookkeeping, tax services, and community access. You'll join Collective's Infrastructure team, a small group owning the cloud platform that all engineers build on. This team manages AWS and GCP foundations, CI/CD systems, Infrastructure as Code, observability, secrets management, and identity. You'll partner with product engineering to unblock shipping, with security to maintain platform safety, and with the AI Platform team on infrastructure supporting Collective's growing AI investments.
As a Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer, you'll be a technical leader and trusted advisor. You'll pave new paths, test recovery plans, and manage stable systems. You'll justify design choices with production experience and be the person others turn to when systems need rethinking.
Key responsibilities:
- Provision, deploy, and manage cloud resources on AWS and GCP using Terraform and Infrastructure as Code
- Embed security best practices through zero-trust architecture, least privilege, and identity-based access
- Build scalable, reliable, cost-effective systems that grow with the company
- Develop and test disaster recovery plans
- Own the CI/CD system, set standards, drive reliability and speed improvements, mentor teams
- Reduce operational toil through automation and AI tooling
- Work closely with product engineering to translate application needs into scalable infrastructure
- Own the observability stack (monitoring, logging, alerting) and proactively identify performance bottlenecks
- Participate in on-call rotation, respond to outages, own incident response and post-mortems
- Stay current with emerging cloud infrastructure, DevOps, and platform engineering technologies
Tech stack: AWS (EC2, IAM, VPC, ECS, Fargate, Lambda, RDS, Elasticache, Opensearch), GCP (BigQuery), Datadog, Sentry, Amplitude, GitHub, GitHub Actions, Terraform, HCP, Python, TypeScript, React.

Requirements:
- At least 5 years hands-on experience as Cloud Infrastructure Engineer, DevOps, or SRE with proven track record operating production cloud environments at scale
- Ability to operate effectively in ambiguous, fast-changing environments; can pick up half-defined problems, define the path forward, and drive to production
- Proficiency in multi-cloud operations; AWS highly preferred, GCP a plus
- Experience implementing infrastructure and security policy as code
- Strong software development skills, preferably Python or another high-level language
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for cross-team alignment; ability to clearly communicate complex concepts and risks
- Experience mentoring engineers, leading post-incident reviews, or driving cross-team infrastructure initiatives
- Ability to write clean, maintainable code for automation and tooling; experience building internal tools to eliminate manual work is a plus
- Familiarity with foundational networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, load balancing, VPCs, firewalls) and their cloud/hybrid application
- Strong hands-on Linux and command-line skills; comfortable using terminals and utilities for system management and debugging
- Comfort using AI tooling for infrastructure automation, tooling, and debugging; bonus for building or contributing to AI-assisted DevOps workflows
