Salary: CAD 125,800 - 170,100 / annual

The Business Intelligence team is responsible for building core data models, governed semantic layers, and data pipelines for enterprise-level reporting and dashboards. The team provides data support and governance standards to ensure metrics remain accurate, consistent, and trusted across the company. Reporting to the Manager of Business Intelligence, the Senior BI Engineer will champion data literacy, governance, and adoption across the business. You will lead the design and development of analytical data assets, centralized semantic layers, and interactive BI solutions (reports, dashboards, business decision tools). This role supports strategic decisions and operational performance monitoring across all functional areas including Marketing, Sales, Customer Growth & Retention, and Product. The goal is to establish robust data governance and standardized metric definitions, creating a trusted, scalable self-service analytics environment. Key responsibilities: - Design and develop scalable, efficient data models and governed semantic layers supporting business requirements and enabling accurate, standardized reporting and analysis - Translate complex SQL queries into scalable data models and reusable semantic models with emphasis on pipeline performance and query optimization - Work closely with the Analytics team to model key business metrics in Data Models for consumption into the semantic layer - Create and maintain high-quality enterprise reports and dashboards providing actionable insights to stakeholders - Develop and maintain data pipelines ensuring reliable and efficient data transformation and loading processes - Manage and configure the BI platform, including user access, data governance, performance tuning, and security You will be a proactive problem-solver comfortable in ambiguous, fast-paced environments. You will drive data literacy, advocate for self-service analytics, and influence business teams to adopt governed data solutions. Strong communication skills are essential—you can listen, empathize with stakeholders, and translate complex concepts into digestible insights. Requirements: - Extensive experience in data architecture and dimensional modeling (star/snowflake schemas), with practical experience or strong familiarity implementing semantic layers for self-service analytics - Expert-level SQL programming skills - Experience building and maintaining data pipelines using DBT - Proven understanding or experience in data governance practices, including metric standardization, data quality enforcement, and access control - Advanced proficiency designing and constructing dashboards using Tableau or equivalent data visualization tools - Solid understanding of complex relational data structures and modern cloud data platforms (e.g., Snowflake) - Passionate champion for data who can drive data literacy and influence adoption of governed data solutions - Proactive, relentless problem-solving approach; comfortable seeking information independently and delivering results - Strong, confident communication style with active stakeholder consultation and ability to simplify complexity - Comfort in ambiguous, fast-paced environments with changing priorities Highly desired (not required): - DBT certifications - Tableau certifications - Data Engineering certifications
