Anduril Industries is a defense technology company transforming U.S. and allied military capabilities through advanced technology. The company develops Lattice OS, an AI-powered operating system that integrates thousands of data streams into real-time 3D command and control centers. This role supports Anduril's mission to bring cutting-edge autonomy, AI, computer vision, sensor fusion, and networking technology to the military.
As a Senior Battery Test Engineer, you will enable accelerated battery development timelines by managing risk reduction at the cell, module, and pack levels through comprehensive development testing. You will support Battery System Engineers across Anduril programs by establishing common test procedures and approaches. Key responsibilities include:
- Design tools and protocols for efficient documentation of test procedures and results
- Write robust, modular data processing scripts and tools to generate plots and outputs that inform system-level decisions
- Design test procedures based on BMS/algorithm requirements, executed iteratively at model-in-loop (MIL), software-in-loop (SIL), and hardware-in-loop (HIL) levels
- Support validation of battery management system (BMS) algorithms, including battery state handling, enable/disable switch control, cell balancing, state-of-charge (SOC) estimation, state-of-health (SOH), state-of-power (SOP) power limits, fault handling, isolation monitoring, and high-voltage interlock loop (HVIL)
- Collaborate with Development Test and Battery Systems engineers to characterize battery cell equivalent circuit models and deploy them to battery HILs or simulations
- Compress timelines without sacrificing product quality through prioritization and focused effort
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's Degree in related Engineering discipline, ideally with emphasis in battery development
- 7+ years of professional experience in a related engineering field
- Experience in immersive interdisciplinary technical projects (collegiate project teams or professional settings)
- Demonstrated validation of battery cells and modules/packs against system requirements
- Capability to compress timelines without sacrificing product quality
- Experience in hardware automation and software-hardware communication/integration
- Demonstrated proficiency in Python or Matlab to process large data files into plots, summaries, and metrics
- Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduate Degree in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or Computer Science with applied focus on battery management systems
- Experience in BMS HW/SW validation methods including SIL/SITL, MIL/MITL, and HIL/HITL testing
- Experience in cell equivalent circuit model (ECM) development and deployment to battery management systems
- Experience in battery characterization methods: mission profile validation, equivalent-circuit model characterization, cycle/calendar life assessment, safety features
- Demonstrated experience in battery modeling, controls, and module/pack integration
