You will join the Payment Squad as a Senior Backend Engineer, contributing to BlaBlaCar's payment solutions that ensure reliability, trust, and a seamless end-to-end experience. Your focus will be on delivering a reliable, scalable platform supporting the full payment lifecycle, fraud prevention, and compliance requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive and deliver complex technical projects from design to deployment, demonstrating deep understanding of technical constraints and implementation challenges
- Lead the finalization and scaling of the payment orchestrator and integrate new payment methods across different countries
- Proactively propose platform improvements, task automation, and enhanced observability (including SLO reviews with SREs and owning monitoring/alerting stacks)
- Collaborate closely with Legal, Finance, Fraud/Payment Ops teams to synchronize efforts, gather requirements, and assess cross-team impacts
- Mentor mid-level developers within the squad, elevating overall engineering standards
- Participate in on-call rotation (approximately 1 week every 7 weeks) to ensure high availability of critical payment systems
- Report to the squad's Engineering Manager and work with a team of 10 Backend and Frontend Engineers plus a Product Manager
The role is hybrid based in Paris. Requirements:
- 5 to 10 years of overall engineering experience
- Deep technical autonomy and high-level critical thinking regarding software architecture and constraints
- Fluency in Java with advanced knowledge of Spring or SpringBoot frameworks
- Hands-on experience with service-oriented architectures, Git, Docker, Kubernetes, and monitoring solutions (Datadog)
- Excellent, clear, and concise communication skills for workshops and stakeholder engagement (both technical and business)
- Willingness to participate in on-call duties (mandatory for this role)
- Full working proficiency in English
- Alignment with BlaBlaCar's core principles
