Nuitée is building the API backbone for the global travel industry—a Stripe-for-Travel platform that connects hotels, OTAs, fintechs, super-apps, and businesses to seamless travel infrastructure. Founded in 2017, the company has grown 10x since 2022, achieved profitability, and recently raised a $48M Series A led by Accel. Nuitée is trusted by industry leaders including Hopper, Priceline, Google, Uber, Revolut, and Grab.
You will own the backend of a white-label travel platform as it expands into new verticals. Hotels and flights are live; experiences launch within weeks, followed by car rentals and additional payment providers. As the backend owner, you will shape the architecture, lead integrations for each new vertical, and remain hands-on in the code. The role offers real technical authority: you'll become the primary backend decision-maker for a product line, working directly with the backend lead and engineering leadership. Within about six months, you'll be making backend decisions independently.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing the backend so that adding new verticals (experiences, car rentals, etc.) doesn't require rebuilding existing functionality
- Identifying and prioritizing technical debt that blocks reliability or delivery speed, and executing fixes while shipping features
- Integrating third-party travel APIs and payment providers to maintain booking reliability when suppliers are slow or fail
- Building schedulers, cron jobs, and workers that remain dependable as traffic grows
- Optimizing AWS infrastructure for client launches without over-engineering
You'll work on problems where the product, technical approach, and best path forward are still being figured out. The role is backend-heavy and product-driven; you should be comfortable moving from idea to design, implementation, and real usage without detailed specs. You'll build the first version that proves something works.
Nuitée is fast-moving, low on process, and high on ownership. You'll see 10+ features moving in parallel, priorities can shift when clients need something, and you'll contribute code in your first days while making decisions with incomplete information. The team has worked together for two to three years and looks out for each other. Travel experience helps but is not required; experience in a fast-moving product company probably is.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 4 to 5 years in backend engineering, including at least 2 years of full-time Node.js and TypeScript in production (Java or Python backgrounds welcome if you've since worked in Node full time)
- Experience designing REST APIs and relational schemas in PostgreSQL
- Experience with background jobs, schedulers, or workers that talk to third-party systems
- Roughly two years of hands-on AWS, enough to run a product handling real traffic
- Track record of taking ownership of product outcomes beyond assigned tickets, and stepping in when teammates were out
- Experience leading technical decisions for a team, or having been in a position to do so; you still write code every day
