You will join the Accounting tribe as a Senior Backend Engineer, leading backend development initiatives end-to-end. Working closely with product managers, designers, and frontend engineers, you will architect and implement scalable backend systems that power Moss's core financial automation features.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading backend development aligned with product requirements, ensuring performance and usability standards
- Providing regular progress updates and proactive communication to product and design teams
- Partnering with PMs and designers during project kick-offs to understand vision, user needs, and goals
- Collaborating with frontend engineers to define required APIs and ensure smooth integration
- Writing well-tested, reliable code with comprehensive unit and functional (end-to-end) testing
- Devising efficient rollout strategies with product managers and monitoring performance post-launch
- Identifying improvement areas through performance metrics and user feedback
You will be expected to bring a pragmatic, delivery-focused mindset with strong collaborative communication skills. Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Backend Engineer, leading projects end-to-end to launch
- Proficiency in Java development technologies, including Spring framework, with knowledge of microservices, message queues, alerting, reliability patterns, and feature flags
- Understanding of development design patterns and techniques, including REST API design principles
- Hands-on experience with testing approaches and libraries (unit testing, integration testing)
- Fluency in English
- Pragmatic approach to engineering with focus on maintainability and scalability
- Delivery-focused mindset with strong estimation and prioritization skills
- Collaborative communication and team-oriented approach
