Blitzy is an AI software development platform based in Cambridge, MA that autonomously builds custom software to transform the enterprise software development lifecycle. The platform leverages agentic AI to autonomously execute approximately 80% of software development work, serving Fortune 500 companies and other enterprises. As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will take ownership of critical components of the platform's stack, working directly alongside the CTO and founding team on both current product and future development initiatives. You will be instrumental in building the company's technical foundation, culture, and engineering practices.
Key responsibilities include:
- Writing, reviewing, and shipping production code that drives meaningful customer and business outcomes
- Leveraging generative AI tools to improve the quality, speed, and effectiveness of technical work
- Taking full ownership of software you build, ensuring reliability, maintainability, and production performance
- Evaluating and driving technical decisions with a long-term perspective, balancing speed, quality, security, and scalability
- Troubleshooting and resolving complex production challenges while serving as a trusted technical resource
- Learning and adapting quickly to unfamiliar technologies, codebases, and domains using first-principles thinking
- Creating technical champions through demos, prototypes, examples, and technical content
- Collaborating closely with engineers, designers, sales executives, and other stakeholders in an in-person environment
- Communicating openly, sharing decision rationale, and actively seeking feedback to keep the team aligned
- Championing improvements across the enterprise software development lifecycle
- Operating independently with accountability, optimism, and a willingness to overcome obstacles

REQUIREMENTS:
- 6+ years of direct experience with Python, Terraform, and AWS (required)
- Proficiency in backend frameworks and technologies such as Node.js, NuxtJS, Express.js, or Python
- Experience with cloud platforms including AWS, Google Cloud, Azure, or Vercel
- Strong knowledge of programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, Java, C++, or Go
- Hands-on knowledge of RPC technologies and API architectures including REST, gRPC, or GraphQL
- Experience with relational and NoSQL databases such as SQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or Firebase
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools including Jenkins, CircleCI, GitLab, or similar platforms
- Experience with source code versioning tools such as Git or Perforce
- Knowledge of microservices architecture and distributed application design
- Familiarity with AI platforms including OpenAI, Anthropic, Hugging Face, Vertex AI, Amazon Bedrock, or SageMaker
- Demonstrated ability to build and scale enterprise-grade applications with 99%+ service-level availability
- Advanced proficiency in Python, Terraform, and GCP
