Hercules is building AI software development tools and is seeking a Senior Analytics Engineer to own the full data stack end-to-end.
In this role, you will:
- Own ETL pipelines: ingest data from third-party providers (Stripe, Meta ads, operational databases) into BigQuery using Airbyte and Google Cloud Datastream
- Design and maintain data models using DBT and the medallion architecture, ensuring data quality and accuracy
- Build semantic layer models to define and track key business metrics with precision
- Create self-serve dashboards and visualizations in Omni that empower the entire company to access insights independently
- Apply AI tools to 10x your own productivity and workflow
The role requires exceptional strength across multiple domains: software fundamentals (system design, architecture, data modeling, API design), code quality and maintainability in monorepos, advanced data modeling with DBT or similar frameworks, semantic layer expertise (Omni, Looker, or equivalent), business intelligence visualization design, and comfort leveraging frontier AI coding tools.
Hercules operates with three core principles: shipping fast and iterating quickly, striving for excellence in every detail, and maintaining hunger to break through obstacles. The founding team works in-office in San Francisco (Kearny and Bush) with a strong preference for in-office presence, though remote candidates willing to work US time zones and travel regularly may be considered.
Current data stack: Airbyte and Google Cloud Datastream for ETL, BigQuery and Clickhouse for data warehouse, DBT for modeling, and Omni for semantic layer and BI. The company is not locked into these tools.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Strong software fundamentals: system design, architecture, data modeling, API design
- Proven ability to write clean, maintainable code and work effectively in monorepos
- Strong experience modeling data with DBT or another declarative data modeling framework
- Strong experience with at least one semantic layer modeling framework (Omni, Looker, etc.)
- Strong understanding of data visualization and business intelligence best practices
- Ability to leverage frontier AI coding tools to enhance productivity
