Farther is a rapidly growing RIA (Registered Investment Advisor) combining expert advisors with cutting-edge technology to deliver comprehensive, tailored wealth management. The company is backed by top-tier venture capital and fintech investors, with founders who bring deep expertise in traditional wealth management, fintech, and technology production.
As a Senior Agentic Engineer, you will design and build AI agents that automate real operational workflows in a regulated wealth management environment. This is a full-ownership role: you will partner directly with operations teams, advisors, and business stakeholders to understand their workflows, identify high-value automation opportunities, and turn them into scalable, production-ready agentic systems.
Key responsibilities include:
- Partner with business stakeholders to identify high-value workflows and translate needs into prioritized agentic solutions
- Design and build production agents that reason over and act on Farther's proprietary data model and vendor integrations (custodians, CRM, planning systems, and third-party platforms)
- Make architectural decisions favoring scalable, strategic solutions using strong software engineering practices (testing, code review, CI/CD, infrastructure as code)
- Build and maintain integrations connecting agents to internal services and external vendor platforms
- Own production readiness: set up monitoring, alerting, logging, and evaluation to ensure agent behavior is observable, reliable, and safe in a regulated environment
- Lead complex rollouts to business-facing users, including training and ongoing support
- Track adoption and business impact, feeding learnings from real usage back into the product roadmap
- Implement guardrails and access controls suited to a regulated financial environment
You will work with AWS (Lambda, ECS, S3, Step Functions, EventBridge, API Gateway, CloudWatch), Python, infrastructure as code (AWS CDK), AI coding tools, LLM APIs, agent frameworks, REST APIs, event-driven architectures, and observability tooling.
This role requires both sound engineering and architectural judgment and real business judgment: knowing what to build, what to leave out, and what "done" means to the people using it. You will sit with users to understand their actual workflows, find the few features that drive adoption, and turn them into well-built systems. You own the entire lifecycle from design through rollout, monitoring, and iteration.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience using Python, SQL, HTTP, and AWS
- Track record of designing systems that scale
- Hands-on experience with AI coding tools (Claude Code preferred) and a workflow built around using them effectively
- Professional experience building AI agents (Claude Managed Agents or Anthropic Claude Agent SDK preferred)
- Deep understanding of cloud and serverless architectures (AWS Bedrock AgentCore preferred; alternates include GCP Vertex AI Agent Builder, Azure AI Foundry, LangGraph Cloud, or Crew AI)
- Experience supporting Operations functions and teams
- Strong ownership mindset: care about adoption and outcomes, not just shipping code
- Strong business judgment: ability to separate must-have features from nice-to-haves and explain tradeoffs clearly
- Experience working one-on-one with demanding users and turning their feedback into product decisions
- History of carrying complex, business-facing applications through rollout, not just building them
- Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences
BONUS:
- Wealth management, financial services, or capital markets background
- Experience with custodial or vendor financial data
- Experience building production AI agents
- Experience with Model Context Protocol (MCP) or building tool integrations for LLMs
- Familiarity with compliance, auditability, and access control requirements in regulated environments
- Experience working with data knowledge graphs
