REGENT is building Seagliders—wing-in-ground-effect craft that travel just above water, combining airplane speed (180 mph) with boat economics. The company is scaling from prototype to full production and seeking a Senior Actuation Engineer to own the aerodynamic and hydrodynamic surface actuation controls.
In this role, you will:
- Own the actuation system architecture, requirements, performance, and qualification across key load cases
- Deliver high-impact actuation trade studies supporting major production milestones
- Develop and maintain simulation models, assumptions, and documentation enabling repeatable, reviewable engineering decisions
- Collaborate closely with loads, manufacturing, controls, guidance/navigation/control (GNC), integration, and certification stakeholders to ensure as-built performance aligns with requirements, producibility, and verification needs
- Contribute to improving team execution by refining procedures, templates, and best practices that reduce analysis bottlenecks
- Lead certification of the world's first all-electric Seaglider actuation control system
You will join a collaborative, fast-moving team of engineers focused on solving complex technical challenges and bringing entirely new transportation technology to market. The role emphasizes engineering rigor, teamwork, and hands-on problem-solving at the intersection of innovation and real-world impact.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Significant experience as an actuation engineer with focus in electromechanical flight-critical actuation
- Proven experience leading actuation system development from concept through qualification and certification
- Experience technically managing suppliers of actuation-related materials
- Working knowledge of critical actuation technical challenges: bandwidth, duty cycle, fatigue, stability, power, and environmental/sea-based requirements
- Solid fundamentals in control theory, kinematics, and mechanism integration
- Familiarity with the complete engineering lifecycle ("V" model) for actuation from concept to qualification
- Clear written and verbal communication skills and collaborative, low-ego approach in fast-moving, interdisciplinary teams
- Demonstrated ability to work as a collaborative team player, creative problem solver, and adaptable/agile thinker in startup environments
