Salary: USD 95,000 - 110,000 / annual
Somatus is a leading provider of outcomes-driven care for individuals and communities living with chronic conditions. The company partners with health plans, health systems, and provider groups to support patients with chronic conditions including cardio, kidney, metabolic, and other chronic illnesses.
The Senior Accountant is a critical individual contributor responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of the company's financial records and reporting in accordance with U.S. GAAP. This role goes beyond transactional accounting and is designed for a high-performing professional who can own complex accounting areas, apply technical judgment, and drive continuous improvement across close, reporting, and control processes.
Key responsibilities include:
- Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules for key balance sheet and P&L accounts
- Own monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes and drive continuous improvement of close processes
- Perform variance and flux analysis, investigate drivers of change, and communicate explanations to management
- Manage invoice creation, submission, and monitoring of the company's receivables aging
- Write, modify, and generate general ledger reports as needed
- Participate in development and documentation of formal accounting policies, procedures, and technical accounting memorandums to support audit and regulatory requirements
- Partner with FP&A and Reporting teams on ERP enhancements, reporting optimization, and close efficiency initiatives
- Assist with implementation and monitoring of internal controls to mitigate fraud risk and ensure SOX compliance
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Finance, FP&A, Operations, HR/Payroll, and external auditors
The ideal candidate is intellectually curious, detail-oriented, and capable of operating independently while partnering effectively across the organization.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting
- 3-4+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and ASC 606 Revenue Recognition
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Experience with ERP systems (NetSuite preferred)
- Experience with procurement/vendor onboarding/spend management platforms (ZIP preferred)
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, XLOOKUP, data analysis); ability to work with large data sets
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to meet deadlines and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
Preferred Qualifications:
- CPA certification strongly preferred
- Big 4 public accounting experience highly preferred
