Salary: USD 160,000 - 190,000 / annual

Artemis is building AI-driven defense solutions that help organizations detect and defend against advanced cyber threats in an era where AI is fighting AI on the cyber battlefield. The team includes engineers and researchers from Google, Abnormal AI, Wiz, Meta, AWS, CERN, and SentinelOne. As a Security Research Engineer, you will drive detection research, threat hunting, and AI-powered security automation at the intersection of security expertise and cutting-edge AI. This is a hands-on, high-impact role where your work directly shapes threat detection capabilities and customer security outcomes. Key Responsibilities: - Develop AI-powered detection tooling that leverages AI to accelerate detection creation, tuning, and validation at scale - Conduct security research by analyzing cloud, identity, and SaaS data sources (AWS CloudTrail, Okta, Entra ID, etc.) to extract security value and identify detection opportunities - Perform authorized attack simulations to validate detection coverage and identify defensive gaps - Hunt for threats proactively across customer environments using the platform and custom tooling - Investigate security incidents to demonstrate product value, refine detection logic, and deliver actionable findings - Engage directly with customers to present analysis results, walk through findings, and gather feedback that shapes the product - Tune customer detections to reduce false positives and improve accuracy based on real-world data and context - Build investigation automation tools that scale threat hunting workflows across the platform Requirements: - 7+ years of hands-on cybersecurity experience - Hands-on incident response experience in cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP) and identity providers (Okta, Entra ID) - Strong knowledge of threat actor tactics, techniques, and procedures with demonstrated ability to uncover threat actor activity - Strong experience with log-based analysis and ability to identify malicious activity across various log sources - Ability to translate security research into actionable detections or threat hunt investigations - Strong communication skills—comfortable explaining technical findings to engineers and customers - Experience with detection engineering at scale Bonus qualifications: - SOC environment or Managed Detection and Response background - Familiarity with security tools (SIEM, EDR, SOAR) - Customer-facing technical experience - Experience with AI tools and models
