Plaid is seeking a Security Engineer to join the Platform Security team, which defends the company against attackers and owns laptop security, cloud security, AI security, detection and response, and red teaming. The team is in growth mode as AI has expanded Plaid's attack surface faster than most security teams can adapt. You will be Plaid's first line of defense on AI security. Your primary focus will be reviewing new AI technologies to identify security risks before they ship, then designing and implementing controls to close those gaps. You'll build guardrails, identity management, and detection systems that enable Plaid to use AI aggressively without exposing the company to unacceptable risk. Key responsibilities include: - Review AI systems and integrations for security risk before and after deployment - Design and deploy guardrails, sandboxes, and other controls that constrain what AI agents can do - Build or implement systems to track and manage AI identities, ensuring visibility into what access every AI has been granted while balancing risk with agility - Detect and mitigate prompt injection across Plaid's AI surface area - Run AI-focused security reviews and establish standards that other teams build to Your impact will be measured by fewer AI-related incidents, faster AI shipping velocity, and controls that scale. Plaid aims to be a leader in AI both internally and externally, and the company recognizes this requires robust security foundations. Plaid powers financial connectivity for millions of people and works with thousands of companies including Venmo, SoFi, Fortune 500 firms, and major banks. The company's network covers 12,000 financial institutions across the US, Canada, UK, and Europe. Founded in 2013, Plaid is headquartered in San Francisco with offices in New York, Seattle, Washington D.C., Raleigh, London, and Amsterdam.
