Salary: USD 160,000 - 180,000 / annual
Momentus is an early-stage aerospace company commercializing in-space transportation and infrastructure services. The company is seeking a SEC Reporting & Technical Accounting Manager to serve as a key member of the accounting and external reporting function at this public company.
In this role, you will be responsible for SEC reporting and technical accounting while supporting broader accounting operations. You will partner closely with the Controller and accounting team to prepare accurate and timely financial statements, SEC filings, and audit deliverables.
Key responsibilities include:
- Preparing quarterly and annual SEC filings (Forms 10-Q, 10-K, 8-K), coordinating supporting schedules, disclosures, and deliverables
- Preparing and reviewing primary financial statements, footnotes, and disclosures in accordance with U.S. GAAP and SEC requirements
- Partnering with the Controller and accounting team in quarterly and annual close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and account analyses
- Serving as a key member of the external audit process, coordinating audit requests, preparing audit deliverables, managing the PBC process, and resolving accounting matters with auditors
- Cross-functional collaboration with Supply Chain, Legal, HR, and other stakeholders to evaluate and account for business transactions
- Supporting technical accounting assessments for complex transactions and researching new accounting standards and SEC guidance
- Drafting technical accounting memos and communicating conclusions to stakeholders
- Identifying opportunities to improve accounting, reporting, and close processes; designing and implementing scalable processes and controls
- Supporting SOX and internal control activities, including documentation, control execution, testing, remediation, and process improvement
- Maintaining strong understanding of accounting policies, financial reporting requirements, and internal controls; proactively identifying potential issues
This is a full-time remote position. The role requires access to export-controlled commodities and technical data; U.S. citizenship, U.S. legal permanent resident status, or protected person status is required.
REQUIREMENTS:
- BS degree in Accounting or closely related discipline
- CPA strongly preferred
- 10+ years of relevant experience
- Strong technical knowledge of U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting requirements
- Public accounting experience (Big 4 or national firm strongly preferred) and/or direct SEC reporting experience at a public company
- Highly detail-oriented with strong execution skills
- Comfortable operating in fast-paced, evolving environments
- Strong ownership mindset with ability to balance deadlines and quality
- Collaborative, proactive, and solutions-oriented
- Ability to work independently
- Excellent technical and written/verbal communication skills
DESIRED EXPERIENCE:
- NetSuite ERP experience
- Technical accounting role experience in growth-stage/startup companies
- Previous experience on DoD and other USG development and deployment programs
