Asimov is seeking a Scientist to join the Lentiviral Vector Cell Line Development team in Boston. The role focuses on engineering stable producer cell lines for lentiviral vector (LV) therapeutics while driving upstream process optimization and scale-up. Key Responsibilities: - Perform lentiviral vector stable producer cell line development processes including transfection, pool generation, cloning, characterization, and cell banking using state-of-the-art equipment. - Perform assays to assess quantity, potency, and infectivity of lentiviral vector preparations. - Support innovation through development of novel workflows and applications. - Support research projects to develop viral vector therapeutics with enhanced quality attributes such as infectivity, potency, and/or cell targeting. - Work effectively as part of a cross-functional team in support of the LV CLD platform and in collaboration with Synthetic Biology and Process Development teams. - Contribute to process development efforts, including scale-up and characterization across Ambr15, Ambr250, and benchtop systems, as well as LV analytical assay development. - Design experiments, analyze data, troubleshoot, and maintain detailed records. - Represent LV CLD on project teams, making decisions for cell line development activities and effectively communicating results, progress, and plans. Asimov's mission is to advance humanity's ability to design living systems, enabling biotechnologies with outsized benefit to society. The company is developing a mammalian synthetic biology platform—from cells to software—to enable the design and manufacture of next-generation therapeutics. This is an opportunity to work at a nimble, forward-thinking synthetic biology startup and help build the future of biological engineering. Requirements: - PhD in Biological Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, or related field with 0-2 years of hands-on industry experience with lentiviral vector production and cell line development in support of gene therapies; OR MS with 3-4 years of this type of experience; OR Bachelor's degree with 6-8 years of this type of experience. - Extensive experience performing viral transductions, including T-cell transduction assay, flow cytometry, and quantitative gene expression analyses (ddPCR or qPCR). - Experience with Ambr15, Ambr250, and/or benchtop scale viral vector bioreactor processes. - Highly desired: Experience with downstream purification of lentiviral vectors, viral genome engineering, and/or host cell genome engineering related to virus production or producer cell line technologies. - Strong written and verbal communication skills required.
