You will join as a hands-on research scientist leading the immunology program. This is an independent, end-to-end role: you will design and execute high-throughput immune organoid experiments, establish and optimize immunological assays, and translate bench findings into drug development insights. The work spans tissue handling, primary cell isolation, functional readouts, and disease modelling across multiple indications.
Key responsibilities include:
• Design, execute, and interpret immune organoid experiments using primary human cells and stem cell-derived models in tissue culture.
• Establish, optimize, and troubleshoot assays for immune activation, cell phenotyping, and functional response.
• Connect experimental observations to drug development decisions and design experiments accordingly.
• Own open-ended research where approaches are unsettled and answers emerge through iteration.
• Set project direction, prioritize experiments, and adjust plans based on data.
• Manage multiple concurrent projects against defined milestones.
• Collaborate with computational and automation teams to integrate biological interpretation into platform development.
• Write and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for transfer between sites.
• Produce clear experimental documentation and contribute to reports and presentations.
• Mentor junior scientists and share knowledge with peers.
This is a bench-intensive role with hands-on work expected to remain constant as the team grows. Weekend work on a rotating basis is required to maintain cell cultures and experimental continuity.
REQUIREMENTS:
• PhD in immunology, cell biology, or closely related life sciences discipline.
• 5+ years of experience in biotech, pharma, or research environments with exposure to translational or drug development contexts.
• Broad immunological expertise across innate and adaptive immunity with strong practical command of immune cell characterization.
• Experience with secondary lymphoid organ biology (ex vivo tissue studies, spatial transcriptomics, proteomics, or mucosal immunology).
• Strong background in primary cell and tissue culture, including 3D or organoid culture.
• Familiarity with immunological characterization methods: flow cytometry panel design and analysis, multiplex immunoassays, and imaging-based readouts.
• Comfort with quantitative analysis, including scripting in Python, R, or equivalent; data visualization; and working with complex datasets.
• Track record of driving projects independently from design through interpretation with limited supervision.
• Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and set priorities independently.
• Excellent troubleshooting skills for complex experimental systems.
• Strong collaborator with history of cross-disciplinary and cross-site work.
• Strong record of documenting experiments and communicating results.
Desirable: experience with iPSC culture or differentiation; experience developing disease-relevant immune models (autoimmune, inflammatory, or immuno-oncology).
