Dialogue is Canada's #1 virtual care provider, delivering integrated health platforms (primary care, mental health, iCBT, EAP, wellness) to organizations. Acquired by Sun Life in 2023, Dialogue operates independently while aligning with Sun Life's risk and compliance frameworks.
As Risk Manager, you will be a senior individual contributor reporting to the Director of Risk and Compliance. Your mission is to shape Dialogue's risk posture by designing right-sized risk frameworks, policies, and tools that enable the business to move faster and smarter. Rather than policing the business, you will serve as a pragmatic advisor supporting better decision-making across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide risk and compliance advice on vendor selection, key projects, operational changes, new products, and incidents
- Establish, own, and maintain risk management frameworks aligned with Dialogue's objectives and Sun Life's requirements
- Work across multiple risk domains: third-party risk management, business continuity, data governance, model/AI risk, and technology risk
- Support incident management and coordination
- Build automated risk monitoring capabilities
- Manage the evolution of Dialogue's GRC tool (vision, roadmap, execution)
- Respond to RFPs and client due diligence questionnaires
You will leverage data and business understanding to provide sound advice, address issues without existing frameworks, and embed yourself into the business to provide stronger support. The role requires balancing pragmatism with critical thinking, influencing stakeholders at various organizational levels, and moving beyond compliance checklists to ask the right questions.
Requirements:
Hard requirements: Relevant bachelor's or master's degree, 5+ years of relevant risk/compliance experience, background in heavily regulated industry, familiarity with technology, and fluent in French.
Desired competencies: Business acumen (leveraging knowledge of business objectives to provide sound risk advice); pragmatism and critical thinking (addressing issues without existing frameworks, forming objective opinions); influencing and challenge skills (supporting, influencing, and challenging stakeholders on key decisions); profound interest in the business (embedding into operations rather than policing); understanding of financial services risk/compliance landscape or other heavily regulated industries; broad exposure to various risk/compliance programs; experience managing corporate insurance portfolios.
