OpenAI's Legal team is seeking a Legal Program Manager focused on regulatory compliance to build and manage cross-functional programs that translate legal counsel's guidance into practical, sustainable operations. You will work at the intersection of law, technology, and business to help OpenAI navigate emerging AI regulations and governance requirements.
In this role, you will lead regulatory compliance programs end-to-end, defining scope, owners, milestones, dependencies, risks, and escalation paths. You'll translate counsel's regulatory guidance into repeatable workflows, controls, and documentation—potentially including content moderation disclosures, transparency reporting, appeals workflows, frontier AI model launch readiness, evaluation and risk-management evidence, and incident reporting.
You will build strong partnerships across Product, Engineering, User Operations, Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC), Global Affairs, Communications, and Go-to-Market teams to align program priorities and deliverables. You'll support regulatory inquiries, audits, and investigations by organizing evidence and responses to support timely, accurate communication and reporting. A key responsibility is maintaining a reliable source of truth for obligations, controls, decisions, evidence, and reporting to demonstrate compliance readiness and control effectiveness.
You will identify execution risks and compliance gaps, track remediation, and escalate blockers. You'll establish clear success measures and operating cadences while keeping legal conclusions subject to counsel's review. Your initial focus may include content moderation and/or frontier AI governance, with the mix shaped by team priorities and your strengths.
