Harmattan AI is a next-generation defense prime building autonomous and scalable defense systems. Following a $200M Series B at a $1.4B valuation, the company is expanding teams to deliver mission-critical systems to allied forces.
As an RF Engineer (GNSS) on the Hardware (Electronics) team, you will own the radionavigation architecture of the company's products. You will be responsible for RF subsystems across the full lifecycle—from antenna design through integration, validation, and compliance. Your work will focus on systems that require high-precision navigation and robust connectivity in contested, complex environments.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing custom GNSS antennas and receiver modules, extending toward CRPAs (Controlled Reception Pattern Antennas) for GNSS-denied operations
- Integrating all antennas (GNSS, radio link) into drones and validating through simulation, lab testing, and flight tests
- Developing, maintaining, and configuring the GNSS test bench to simulate satellite constellations and interference scenarios
- Running hands-on RF characterization with network and spectrum analyzers; simulating antenna iterations with EM software
- Leading EMC troubleshooting and pre-compliance testing to identify and remove blockers early
- Collaborating with PCB designers on routing, shielding, and RF layout
- Reviewing and owning RF architecture across product lines, including link budgets and system-level RF performance
- Mentoring junior engineers on RF layout principles and EMC mitigation
You will be based in Lausanne, Switzerland, and work in a demanding environment where rigor, ownership, and execution are expected.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, RF Engineering, Telecommunications, or related field
- Proven track record taking complex wireless devices from concept to mass production, including clearing strict EMC compliance hurdles
- Background in aerospace, commercial drones, or GNSS products (strong advantage)
- Solid grounding in GNSS, including hands-on use of a GNSS test bench to simulate edge-case environments and understanding of effects such as multipath
- Experience designing custom antennas under tight mechanical and space constraints, with EM simulation tools
- Strong command of RF fundamentals and measurement equipment (network and spectrum analyzers); comfortable working in an anechoic chamber
- Analytical, meticulous, structured, and resilient mindset; hands-on problem-solver who works autonomously and collaborates well
- Excellent written and verbal communication; capable of leading diverse stakeholders from junior members to senior executives
- 100% commitment to Harmattan AI's mission and ambitious growth plans
