Mill is a waste prevention technology company building smart systems and infrastructure for homes, businesses, and municipalities that transform food scraps into valuable resources. The company operates residential food recyclers that help households divert millions of pounds of food scraps annually, and is launching Mill Commercial—an end-to-end solution for managing and preventing food waste in commercial environments like grocery stores, restaurants, and food services.
You will manage Mill's order-to-cash process as a Revenue Accountant. This role is central to the company's financial operations and growth strategy. Your responsibilities include calculating monthly revenue, facilitating financial statement audits, revising technical accounting documentation for new business arrangements, and reviewing contracts to advise on revenue structures. You'll perform monthly accounting calculations, journal entries, reconciliations, and reviews, plus ad hoc analyses as needed.
You'll collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Business Development, Finance, Data, IT, and Legal teams to support the Go-To-Market strategy and drive business growth. Key responsibilities include learning and understanding the revenue process across all business lines; completing operational accounting and reporting with detailed calculations, analysis, and reconciliation of general ledger accounts; managing sales tax reporting and reconciliations; preparing monthly margin analyses; enhancing internal controls around revenue recognition, credit, and collections; and assisting with financial statement audits and ERP implementation.
This is an opportunity to leverage in-depth understanding of retail revenue recognition in a high-growth, venture-backed company focused on sustainability and food waste prevention.
