Salary: USD 92,173 - 106,882 / annual
Treeline Biosciences is an innovative biotechnology company developing medicines against difficult-to-drug targets in cancer and other life-threatening diseases. The company employs an integrated approach combining lead discovery, medicinal chemistry, antibody-drug conjugates, and computation to accelerate drug discovery.
You will join the Lead Discovery team in Watertown, MA as a Research Associate supporting drug discovery projects. Your primary focus will be executing and optimizing crystallography and biophysical experiments to deliver high-quality scientific data and insights for small molecule drug discovery. You will work closely with colleagues across biophysics, biochemistry, structural biology, and protein production, as well as the broader R&D organization including biology, computational chemistry, and medicinal chemistry teams.
Key responsibilities include:
- Becoming a key contributor to the Structural Biology and Biophysics teams, providing routine and novel insights to multiple drug programs
- Operating and maintaining sensitive laboratory equipment in collaboration with Lab Operations staff and external vendors
- Collaborating with Lead Discovery team members (protein sciences, biochemistry, mass spectrometry) to characterize small molecule ligand binding and establish structure-activity relationships (SAR)
- Executing structural experiments and effectively communicating results to colleagues and project teams
Requirements:
- BS or MS degree in biology, biochemistry, chemistry, or related scientific/technical field
- Minimum 2+ years of work experience in the life sciences sector
- Ability to maintain and operate sensitive lab equipment (liquid handlers, automated imagers, microscopes)
- General laboratory experience: pipetting, buffer preparation, and related techniques
- Experience with protein expression or protein activity and binding assays
- Ability to work efficiently, deliver detailed results within defined timelines, and collaborate in multidisciplinary teams
- Preferred: industry experience or academic training in X-ray crystallography workflow (setting screens, crystal optimization, harvesting) and biophysical characterization (SPR, BLI, MST, ITC, etc.)
- Preferred: working knowledge of Linux environments and/or Shell/Python scripting
- Enthusiasm for science and team-oriented work environment
