Salary: USD 120,000 - 170,000 / annual
CHAOS Industries is seeking a Mid-career Radar Software Engineer to join the R&D and product engineering team, initially focusing on next-generation radar products. This is a collaborative individual contributor role where you will work across multiple capabilities within the product portfolio and have opportunities to expand your skillset across product families.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct R&D and production software development for next-generation radar products
- Support system integration of software on hardware, primarily using commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) components
- Support deployed software capabilities for U.S. and international customers
- Work full-time on-site at the El Segundo, California office

Requirements:
Minimum:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field
- 5+ years of professional object-oriented software development experience
- Extensive/advanced Python experience
- Experience with Agile lifecycle processes (Scrum, Continuous Integration, Test-Driven Development)
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and collaborate on small teams
- Solid understanding and extensive experience with Linux software development
- U.S. Person status required (position requires access to U.S.-only data systems)
Preferred:
- Development experience with ground or airborne sensors (radars, EO/IR, EW, etc.)
- Experience designing and implementing radar modes, algorithms, signal processing, target detection, and tracking
- Current or previous DoD security clearance
- Experience with networks (software and hardware)
- CUDA experience
- Software-Defined Radio (SDR) experience (e.g., Ettus)
- Advanced time synchronization technologies beyond NTP
- Near-real-time embedded software development
- Git version control
- Container technologies (Docker, Podman, etc.)
- Cloud computing and virtualization (WSL, KVM, Hyper-V, VMware)
- BIOS, Secure Boot, TPM, Network Boot, PXE experience
- Hardware and software drive encryption (LUKS, OPAL, etc.)
- 2D and 3D visualization in defense use cases (e.g., SIMDIS)
- DoD system/software architectures and messaging standards (OMS, SOSA, Link-16, etc.)
- Modeling and simulation including hardware-in-the-loop and software-in-the-loop testbeds (DIS, VR-Forces, AFSIM)
- Production-level software development and deployment (DevOps, DevSecOps, CI/CD)
- Full lifecycle software development of high-TRL systems
- Hardware/software integration and verification of high-TRL systems
- Additional programming languages (C++, Rust, NodeJS, Java, Go, etc.)
