Cloudflare is seeking a Rack Integration Operations Engineer to serve as a technical quality gatekeeper and operational partner across its hardware build programs. You will bridge the gap between engineering specifications and external contract manufacturing partners, ensuring the seamless deployment of Cloudflare's global network infrastructure.
In this role, you will own Bill of Materials (BOM) accuracy and validation, working closely with hardware design engineers to resolve design change requests and BOM discrepancies throughout the build lifecycle. You will leverage functional expertise across rack-level power, networking, server, and firmware architectures to evaluate build compliance against Cloudflare specifications.
You will support materials planning and demand forecasting for rack build programs, aligning partner capacity with component lead times. You will coordinate supply chain logistics for components and finished racks between partners and Cloudflare sites through to final shipment, serving as the operational point of contact for external hardware integration partners regarding build progress, scheduling, and issue resolution.
A key part of this role involves tracking vendor performance through SLAs and quality metrics, contributing to vendor scorecards and KPI tracking across build quality, on-time delivery, and cost efficiency. You will lead root-cause analyses for recurring defects and maintain program visibility by tracking hardware build cycles in Jira, leading documentation, status check-ins, and project closeouts.
You will also identify manual, repetitive tasks across BOM reviews, reporting, and partner tracking, using AI tools and LLM prompt engineering to streamline processes. You will evaluate spend, build timelines, and quality trends using AI-assisted analysis tools to surface actionable operational insights, and develop, document, and maintain sustainable, lightweight automation scripts and workflows for adoption across the broader team.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Professional background managing hardware vendor or contract manufacturing (EMS/ODM) relationships, including BOM validation, quality tracking, and schedule management
- Practical ability to evaluate rack-level technical specifications (power distribution, networking, server hardware, firmware) to ensure manufacturing compliance
- Hands-on experience managing operational workflows in Jira, with a track record of tracking and reporting on team KPIs and SLAs
- Practical experience using AI tools or LLMs to automate concrete workflows, optimize reporting, or perform data analysis
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a track record of working effectively across engineering, procurement, supply chain, and external partner teams
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
- Background in data center infrastructure hardware (servers, network switches, rPDUs, enterprise cabling)
- Experience writing lightweight scripts (Python, Google Apps Script, or similar) paired with AI developer tools
- Familiarity with global hardware supply chain and logistics operations
- Experience with Oracle ERP Cloud (SCM, Procurement, Inventory Management) or comparable ERP platforms such as SAP or NetSuite, particularly for BOM management, purchase orders, and materials tracking
