Hudl is seeking a Quality Assurance Engineer to join the performance analysis squad, a team building best-in-class tools that help coaches and analysts turn game video and data into winning insights. You'll help build and scale products powering film breakdowns, tagging, stats, and reporting, ensuring every clip, metric, and playlist is accurate, fast, and reliable.
In this role, you will champion squad quality by attending sprint ceremonies and voicing quality focus, ensuring backlog defects are prioritized. You'll drive test strategy by creating test plans, implementing squad quality best practices, using data to drive high-quality outcomes, and ensuring post-mortems or root cause analyses are created for all hotfixes. You'll leverage multiple testing approaches—automated, exploratory, and manual testing—from start to finish, ensuring sub-defects are resolved and merge builds run cleanly. You'll also dedicate time to your own professional development and skill-building.
The role is hybrid, with time spent collaborating with other team members in-office being a regular part of how you work. Hudl is currently prioritizing applicants within commuting distance of Lincoln or Omaha, Nebraska. You'll be expected to work more days in-office than remote, with flexibility to coordinate your specific in-office schedule with your team.
Hudl emphasizes work-life harmony with flexible vacation time, company-wide holidays, and a paid sabbatical every five years. The company fosters autonomy, career growth, professional development resources, and a supportive environment. Benefits include tailored medical plans with vision, dental, and fertility benefits, an Employee Assistance Program, Employee Resource Groups, and 401(k) matching up to 4%.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 2+ years of software testing experience in fast-paced environments with changing deadlines
- Solid experience designing and executing tests across the stack (front-end UI validation to in-depth API testing)
- Proven hands-on experience and proficiency with key languages (e.g., Python, Typescript) and modern automation frameworks (e.g., Playwright, Selenium)
- Experience testing iOS or Android applications with understanding of mobile-specific performance, UI nuances, and automation using Appium, Detox, and/or React Native tooling
- Familiarity with APIs and protocols such as GraphQL and REST
- Effective collaboration within a global team, leading with empathy and clear communication
- Strong problem-solving skills for navigating technical and team challenges during changing deadlines
- Naturally curious mindset with ability to think outside the box and explore creative solutions
- User-focused perspective with critical thinking about user experience
- Passion for learning and openness to growth areas
NICE-TO-HAVES:
- SaaS environment experience or STEM-related background
- Exposure to AI tools (LLMs, specialized coding assistants, test data generators) for efficiency in documentation, test case creation, or failure diagnosis
- Agile/Scrum framework experience and sprint ceremony participation
