Salary: USD 90,000 - 125,000 / annual

Voyager Technologies is seeking a Propulsion Engineer II to join the Mojave office and contribute to the development of propulsion systems for sub-orbital vertical takeoff and landing (VTVL) vehicles. This is a hands-on engineering role where you will work across the full lifecycle of propulsion system development, from initial component and system sizing through design, analysis, fabrication, and test. You will collaborate with the propulsion team, including colleagues in the Pittsburgh office, and report directly to the Propulsion Lead. Key responsibilities include: - Supporting the engineering team in the design and test of rocket propulsion systems - Sizing propulsion system components including turbomachinery, combustion devices, valves, propellant feed systems, tanks, and pressurization systems - Performing trade studies using propulsion system fluid-thermal models to inform design and operations - Creating solid models of propulsion components for modeling and hardware fabrication - Developing component specifications to guide vendor interactions and procurement - Developing test plans, executing tests, and post-processing results for component and system testing - Supporting rocket engine and component testing operations - Writing technical reports and presenting findings to technical teams You will be part of a mission-driven organization focused on advancing space, defense, and national security technologies. The role requires strong technical skills, the ability to self-start with minimal guidance, and a collaborative mindset in a small team environment. Relocation assistance is provided for qualified candidates moving to Mojave, CA. REQUIREMENTS: - B.S. in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, or similar discipline - 2+ years of experience in propulsion system design, analysis, manufacture, integration, and/or test - Familiarity with fluid/thermal design and analysis using system-level modeling tools (GFSSP, Amesim, Thermal Desktop, or similar) - Familiarity with solid modeling (Solidworks preferred) - Experience designing or specifying components for fluid systems - Demonstrated teamwork and collaboration skills while multitasking in a small team - Ability to self-start with minimal guidance DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: - M.S. in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering - Experience with cryogenic propulsion systems (liquid oxygen and liquid methane preferred) - Experience leveraging additive manufacturing in engine design - Analytical/scientific programming (Python, C/C++, Matlab) - Hands-on fabrication skills and willingness to work with pathfinder hardware - Rocket test facility design, integration, and/or operation - Computational Fluid Dynamics expertise (Ansys FLUENT preferred), including conjugate heat transfer - Rocket fuel handling equipment and operations experience - Experience with rocket turbopumps
